I personally think the production on the Thorns album makes it worth a mention in that sort of category.

I guess some industrial black metal is cyber-ish but I always expect cyber metal to have more EBM/electro-industrial influence, and Thorns is just really sterile and caustic, drum machine-driven stuff. I'd place it closer to bands like Mysticum or Axis of Perdition, it's on the more noisy and Godflesh-y side of things. If there was an "industrial black" band I'd honestly say was closer to cyber metal it'd be Aborym or something, or ...And Oceans like Nordick mentioned.

It's the sterility that makes me think that way - it's extremely cold, emotionless and alien.

Industrial genre/subgenre arguments are a complete headfuck though. I fail to see what is industrial about 90% of the bands under the banners.

Not a very good band tbh, but they have some cool bits scattered here and there.

Same here. I can give some suggestions though.

Cssaba: Pounding and droning.
P.H.O.B.O.S.: Godflesh + doom
Kill the Thrill: Godflesh but more gothy
Neo Inferno 262: abrasive noisy industrial BM
O.L.D.: No clue what to call this but it involves sound manipulation wizard James Plotkin, whose solo material is also very interesting if not exactly "metal".
La Division Mentale: Nurse With Wound metal
The Axis of Perdition: Blistering, spidery technical black metal.
Trayjen: Black industrial with super weird production and DRUM MACHINE.
(V.E.G.A.): Brutally noisy.
Spektr: The Axis of Perdition meets Ephel Duath, sorta?
Skin Chamber: Metal project of Controlled Bleeding.

Well, it's another classification that's sort of a phylogeny type thing. All the bands under the industrial umbrella have lineage in a specific artistic scene, even though they've taken very different viewpoints. Just like tech deathcore and funeral doom are both metal subgenres but have almost no tonal or rhythmic similarity.

You might want to try Psyclon Nine, who are an EBM who ape black metal rather than vice versa.

There's NKVD, and also a new project with the same guy called Autokrator that sort of do this. I'm not really that big a fan of it(possibly because I think most martial industrial is really bad) but some people seem to like it.

Also the first album by Pitchshifter, appropriately titled Industrial, is actually pretty good although I hear they went straight in the shitter after that. It's decent Streetcleaner worship. I used to like playing the vinyl pitched down as low as I could get it for extra heaviness.

Some of this martial industrialish metal almost hits the spot but not quite what I've been looking for. One of my all time favorite bands is Rome and if some, say, atmospheric metal band used similar samples, textures and rhythms I think it could be amazing. I guess this is a good example of gently caress off and make what you want to hear.

I love Pitchshifter, but yeah they definitely changed from heavy industrial to pretty much just rock music when they stopped letting Mark Clayden sing and had his brother take over main vocals. Feels like almost all the bands I loved from around that time all changed their style for the worse. :(

Turmion Katilot are pretty amazing, I guess it's quibbling but I always think of them as "techno metal" or even "dance metal". It's like a mix of techno, rob zombie, and kmfdm.

Also, this is one of the best fan made videos I've ever seen from their best album, it's so perfect for this song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOyThaHDGvM

Another video for a later album featuring Peter Tagtgren because of course he has to be involved in anything remotely techno metal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBxi0rPBIeM

Turmion also have a "side project" called 2 Times Terror that is in a similar vein but probably more EBM I guess. Bonus dance/salsa interlude @2:30 in this fantastic video.

Neurosis was great last night, the finale was awesome. Scott Kelly kinda seemed like he needed a hand off the stage, but the dudes are almost 50 and still killing it, so I'm not surprised if it takes it out of them.

The Body was cool, kind of a bunch of apocalyptic noise and fuzz. Brothers of the Sonic Cloth were alright, started off sorta boring, the last few songs were pretty good, though. Sumac was pretty great.

What era Rome? Flowers from Exile onwards is more singer-songwriter than neofolk, and very little to do with martial industrial. You'd be far better off looking at newer Current 93 and Wovenhand.

As for the earlier stuff... well, it's more neofolk/martial and doesn't really have much close to it in its own genres nevermind with a black metal influence. It should also be pointed out that if there's any black metal band that efficiently fuses martial influences along with samples, its chances of being NSBM increase exponentially (at about the same rate its chances of being good decrease).

At the ripe old age of 32 I'm definitely getting tinnitus. Are Etymotic still the good poo poo as far as earplugs? I wear those whenever I can/remember to but at this point I'd definitely spend if there's something better that doesn't distort the music as much. Already have impressions from custom earbuds too if that's a thing.

Yeah, Etymotic/Hearos/Alpine are about the same, and they're the best you're going to get for $10-20. For anything more, you'd probably need to go to an audiologist (though you have an impression already, so you may be able to skip this step) and then order custom earplugs, often with changeable attenuators. But you're talking $100-200+ for that, easily.

Merging Flare. They only have one full album out, but it's a really good one. Excellent 90s style no-frills euro power metal. (Yes, that is Kai Hansen doing guest vocals.)

If you need it to be clean, Battlebeast aren't very consistently good but they are super similar to Hibria and have some serious jams. Also Dream Evil, you'll probably like Dream Evil since you seem to have a high tolerance for corny metal and Dream Evil is the corniest of metal.

Um, no they aren't. Battle Beast are WAY poppier and absolutely loaded with cheesy lead synths, which are completely absent from Hibria's music.

Don't get me wrong, Battle Beast are great fun and I enjoy a lot of their stuff, but calling them "super similar" to Hibria is pretty misleading.
