I mean it isn't a good looking episode but the "The ORIGINAL never did this" stuff or the laughable argument "this is modern, ergo it has a bigger budget" is sort of bewildering.

Look, getting an episode out a week is tough. Those animators don't work on just one show, they do a whole bunch. So sometimes you have to rush, and do just about anything, just to get something out by your due date, even if it's delivered an hour before airing. So basically, hosed up schedules.

Even Attack on Titan was getting worked on right up until airing and even past that where some stations got even better versions. They had stills with voice overs, 3d blue insert color blocks, bad drawings.   Even One Piece  e:

A big thing about this episode is that they were animating an actual fight, that wasn't like old DBZ's 3 frame fights (looped fast punching and kicking). Lower budget, rushed, and having to animate characters actually moving around the screen as opposed to still and talking to each other ends in bad results. The second to last Stardust Crusaders episode had the same issue. This is going to happen, just expect and deal with it, really.

I feel like in the old Dragonball anime, itwas a little more forgivable to have poo poo animation and such because they weren't making the show to be good or have any artistic merit (well, individuals who worked on it did, I'm sure, I mean the company behind it), it was just a giant advertisement to buy the manga. Like Transformers or GI Joe or something. Super is original material (maybe, eventually?) so it being poo poo is kind of worse. I mean, I'm not gonna watch grandma Goku anyway, so I'm holding out for Funimation getting to use cleaned up Blu-Ray quality episodes.

It wanted to sell you a product and you bought it. Preemptively to it coming out. That was the entire purpose of Dragonball Super airing on TV. Toys no longer sell like they used to, so they sell other things. Like video games.

dragonball games got stale enough that they had to do a weird time travel Original Character Adventures game because there was no reason for people to keep buying them after like 20 years of the same content if they dont make new characters and storylines they're going to run out of stuff that people will care about buying eventually. basically happened once already after Budokai 3 came out. xenoverse was rad though, i liked it a lot, but they can't just rehash that 20 times
