Are turns almost always ending ASAP or am I having selective memory? Seems like that would be really good for the allies, getting more time to bring in the US and/or use superior income.

So the Norwegian campaign draws to a close, I guess it's time to finish evacuating the Commonwealth and allied forces.

Is losing Gort and his 2 ReOrg going to hurt long term, or just in the short term once better Commonwealth HQ units are produced?

He can be rebuilt for 5BP. 3 turns later he's back - the only long term consequence is that you had to spend those 5 BP on him and not something shiny like a MECH corps. Short term, yes, it can hurt.

July/August 1940, end of turn steps:

Partisans:

The d10 partisan roll is a 5. The only countries that have a potential for partisans are Poland and Yugoslavia. The other countries are not enemy occupied nor do they have a red background.

Poland has a partisan number of 6. The Axis have a garrison value that exceeds 20. No partisans can appear.

Yugoslavia has a partisan number of 9. The Axis have a garrison value of 7. If a d10 roll of 2 or less is rolled, 1 partisan unit will appear. The d10 roll is a 2. 1 Allied controlled partisan is placed in Yugoslaiva.

The partisan is placed on top of the resource hex in the forest. That resource cannot be used again until the partisan is no longer on the hex.

US Entry:
USA draws an entry chit with a value of 2 and places it against Germany.
The US has entry markers of 4, 1, 1, 1, 4, 3, 0, 2 for a value of 32; and tension markers of 2, 5, 1, 0 for a value of 16 against Europe.
The US has entry markers of 4, 3, 4, 2, 3 for a value of 32; and tension markers of 4, 2, 3 for a value of 17 against Japan.

The US will play the entry option 23 against Japan, to freeze Japanese assests. This will change the trade agreement between Japan and the USA, so that the US only needs to supply 2 oil to Japan now. If a d10 roll of 7 or less is made, 1 entry marker is moved to the tension pool. The d10 roll is a 4. An entry marker with a value of 3 is moved to the Japan tension pool.

The US will play entry option 25, which allow the US to spend their build points repair any damaged ships from any of Western Allies and their controlled minor countries in their ports. If a d10 roll of 5 or less is made, and entry marker is moved to the German tension pool. The d10 roll is a 7, no entry marker is moved.

Return to base:
The Axis will return their units first.

-Italy returned the ships from the Italian coast to Taranto:

-Italy returned the transport carrying the infantry unit to the controlled port in Greece:

-Germany and Italy returned the sub units in the Bay of Biscay to Bordeaux:

-Germany returned sub units in the North Sea to Bordeaux:

-Germany returned the auxiliary cruiser to the neutral Portuguese port in Angola:

-Germany returned the sub in the Carribean to the milchcow unit:

-Germany returned the amphibious unit and the transport unit in the Baltic to Stettin:

-Germany left the two pocket battleships in the Baltic and moved them down one box to the 1 box:

-Germany attempts to return the Kriegsmarine ships to Brest:

The Allies will flip the Bonaventure face down to attempt an interception roll. The Allies d10 roll is 1 increased to a 2. The Allies are successful in intercepting the units. The Allies find the units will all of their ships. The Axis roll is a 1. Since it is in a return to base step, the German units are considered in the 0 box. The Allies will include all of their units, it will be an air to sea combat, since the Allies have aircraft. The highest sea box with an Allied aircraft is the 3 box, not the 4 box. The Allies will have 3 surprise points (3+1) (0+1).

The Allies are attacking the Germany ships initially with 4 air to sea factors from the 2 bombers. The Axis units have 14 AA factors and 8 ships. The lowest one of four d10 rolls is the number of air to sea factors turned away. The d10 rolls are 5, 9, 3, and 10. 3 of the air to sea factors are turned away. That leaves 1 factors against the 8 ships. The initial result is 1 abort. They will spend 4 surprise points to increase the result to 2 damaged results.

The Allies will first attack the Mortuus's Bismarck. Her defense value is a 2. The d10 roll is a 3, she is aborted to Brest.

The Axis will take the other damage result against the Scharnhorst. Her defense value is a 3. The d10 roll is a 6, she is aborted to Brest.

The remaining Axis ships will abort the sea area to Brest with the remaining ships.

-Finland returns their fighter in the North Sea to Antwerp:

-Italy returns their sub units in the Cape St Vincent to Bordeaux:

-Japan returned the transport to Nagoya:

-Japan returned the carriers and aircraft, along with some cruisers from the 3 and 4 box to Truk. The remaining ships in the sea zone were moved down one box to the 2 box:

The Allies/Communists return their ships next.
-Commonwealth returns the transport and the Norwegian division to Hull:

-Commonwealth returns the ships from the Norwegian Sea to Plymouth:

-the Allies returned the ships and carriers from the Bay of Biscay to Plymouth. Some of the ships were left at sea and moved down to the 3 box:

-Commonwealth returned ships in the Cape St Vincent to Gibraltar. Two of the ships were left at sea and moved down in each sea box:

-Commonwealth returned the battleships in the western Mediterranean Gibraltar:

-the Allies returned the transport, carriers and face down ships in the North Sea to Plymouth. The P40 was returned to Dover. The remaining face up ships are each moved down one box in the sea zone:

-Commonwealth returned the naval bomber and sub from the Italian Coast to Malta:

-the Allies returned their ships in the eastern Mediterran to Alexandria, Egypt. The damaged Nelson was returned to the Edinburgh port repair pool.

-Commonwealth returned ships from the North Atlantic to St John's, Newfoundland:

-Commonwealth returned ships from the Central Atlantic to Antigua:

-USA returned the ships and the Hudson bomber to Norfolk:

-USA returned the sub from the West Coast to Seattle:

Next update will have final reorganization and production steps.

It allows them to be in US ports and closer to help guard the convoys in the Atlantic. And allows them to spend resources on other things (like convoys and aircraft)

Humbug Scoolbus posted:

The US steps against Japan have to be incremental. The first step is the embargo against strategic materials, then this one. The last entry option directly against Japan economically is the oil embargo. I'm going to try to wait as the US on that, until the US plays the option to pass the war appropriations bill with will give the yearly increase in their production. The US should only play the oil embargo when they are close to being ready for war (at least against Japan).

The picture for the reinforcement to Saigon is the Hiei's deployment picture, FYI.

Otherwise, we seem to be on track for a Spring '41 Barbarossa, correct? Barring hilarity with Bulgaria/Romania of course. Or North Africa going really tits up for the Axis.

Weather:
There are no modifiers from the prior weather roll. The d10 roll is a 7. There is rain in the Arctic, North Temperate, and North Monsoon areas. Clear weather is in all other areas.

There are no modifiers to the next weather roll. The impulse marker will move up 2 spaces.

Declarations of war:
the Allies and the Communists make no declarations of war this impulse.

Commonwealth will choose a naval impulse. They will have unlimited naval moves, 3 air missions, no rail moves, no land moves, and no land attacks.

-USSR moved units in the Ukraine to the west:

-USSR moved the mechanized unit in Stalingrad to the west:

No air transport is done.

Japan will defend on the blitz table. The 2d10 roll is an 17, increased to a 21. The result is a */B. The Japanese unit is shattered and will arrive as a reinforcement the next turn. The attacking units remain face up. A unit will not move into the hex right now, as this would cause the unit to flip face down due to the rain.

The shattered Japanese unit will be placed to arrive in Shanghai at the start of the next turn.

Aircraft rebases:
-Commonwealth rebases the two bombers from Norway to England:

No HQ reorganization is done.

The end of turn roll cannot be made yet.

It works the same as the Allied lend-lease pool does, it's just significantly smaller in total available aircraft that can be transferred between Axis countries. There's only just a handful of units that Germany can give Italy, and I think there is one or two Italian units that can be given to Germany. There are none from Japan to the European Axis countries or none going from them to Japan.

soon...... want to try some strategic bombing runs against England, make them spend those extra resources repairing damaged stuff, or get lucky and destroy something before it's finished, the Axis really don't have the capability to supply land units if they get any in England at this point, the RN is still too significant a factor
