We rode it last year, when Maverick was 7 years old. Both of us got jostled, but he's 5'6 and so his face is in line with the shoulder harness while mine pokes over the top. I was uncomfortable, while he got whacked in the face.

Neh, it's Elise. She's good, writes at endofshiftreport.com too and usually covers (slightly) less gruesome stuff. No comment on the accuracy of that story but she's legit and her blog is worth reading.

Whenever it rains heavily in Manhattan, some of the tunnels that comprise Penn station partially flood from the runoff, getting water into all sorts of things. To combat the problem, they put giant tarps over the ceilings of the tunnels, which predictably bow at the middle until the weight of the water gets to be too much for them, suddenly pouring hundreds of gallons into the electrical equipment. Not that you should really touch anything in Penn, but I've seen giant pools of water surrounded by "live" warnings before.

It would basically be like an empty box falling on you. Not a big deal, but probably not suppose to be like that around customers. I wouldnt be surprised if this pic was taken at like 12 am when restocking is done.

It's a plastic pallet and a big cardboard box. So unless it's about two pallets of cereal standing in the middle of the aisle, I have no idea what the problem besides sloppiness is.

Cat Hatter

Hatters gonna hat.
Well the pallet looks like the ones I work with that are 19 pounds and I doubt some parent wants their young child bonked on the head with one and then covered by an avalanche of cereal boxes because they dared to grab a box of Cheerios off the stack. It isn't life threatening, but consumers have an expectation that they won't be injured while shopping because an employee decided to play Jenga because they were in a hurry.

I've worked places where just leaving an empty pallet on edge will result in a write-up because they don't want to pay for Grandma's new osteoporosis-free ankle if it tips over.

The black thing is a plastic pallet. It's somewhat lighter than a blue chip pallet but still heavy enough that you wouldn't want it to fall an a small child or knock an elderly person over.

I know this is the OSHA thread so the danger presented in that picture looks pretty tame compared to deglovings or getting wrapped up in an industrial lathe. Still, I worked in retail long enough to see plenty of dumb accidents that cost a bunch of money so that's why that picture makes me cringe.

groverhaus is almost more of a state of mind or being than it is an actual physical location on the planet's surface at this point, existing in a state of quantum/spatial/temporal flux. Every time some raving idiot builds a new shelf with 16 outlets installed in it to display his Snap-Tite F-22 model on or whatever, they are for a moment in time grover and/or groverhaus.

Think of it as like the Overlook Hotel from "The Shining", where instead of cutting his kids up with an ax, Grady just installed a window at the bottom of a staircase and hoped for the best

No, I think it was wiped from existence. It now exists as an abstraction outside our universe that occasionally manifests when goons do DIY projects. I've got a project planned for next month, and when I break through to the other side I fully expect to have called "groverfloor" into existence.
