There was a guy that did that to a Neon for Chump Car after the front end of the car was obliterated in a crash. Tossed a new Neon engine/driveline in the rear end end, turbocharged it and raced it. Thing was fast but the weight bias was all hosed up. His fabrication was way way better than that thing.

Cacafuego posted:https://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/5184013158.html Oh, wow. I had one of those as my first car, a '78. A friend rolled it over, and certain parts went to live on in a Fiat X1/9 (same basic drivetrain, but in the rear.) No rust on mine! Sheet-metal is actually pretty hefty, for a little thing.

Wow wait long enough, everything is here. Dad bought a Fiat 128 hatchback coupe after gas got expensive in the 75 Buick Regal and 67 Mustang, in 1979.. I drove it and loved it, carried an extra clutch cable everywhere (6K miles @ each), the battery had leaked and corroded the engine compartment to the point that the engine/transaxle would move an inch or two with each shift. First sex in a car, first interruption by a cop of sex in a car, first blown head gasket milkshake. I loved that little sewing machine motor. Memories. Puke green oxidized paint, toy seats and token windshield wiper. I want one again.

It would routinely make people in contemporary S- pack Falcons feel very silly indeed. Edit: I think that ad is blocking referrals from SA.

If I lived in the country I would buy that and become a One man's solution to VW rust, cut it out:

That seems to be a common thing with the old VW crowd. There was a regular at a local VW show who had cut about that much out of a convertible bug and painted it like the Adam West Batmobile. It had one of those big 12 inch Batman action figures epoxied onto the air cleaner. He'd putter around shows in it and chill with people.

Up here you can sell them for $3-4k if they're in good condition (i.e. Safetied and not rusted), Canada loves their Subaru's. I might low ball him and see what sticks.

As long he doesn't put a ton of value in his time and it is just gaskets (and timing belt while your doing it of course) it should be pretty trivial to come out $1500-$2000+ profit. Which for a car you can almost certainly get for <$1000 isn't bad for a a day or two of wrenching.

The listing price history of the average high mileage canadian subaru $6000 $5000 $4000 $3500 Parting out all parts available $2,000, no seats, front bumper, some trim missing WRX prices have gone full retard lately. like $13,000 for an 04-05 with 200,000kms. You can basically get a 335xi for the same price as a wrx now.

Oh dear god, the rust This car has a "safety" not a safety, no way in hell it passed a legitimate safety 7 months ago, both rockers are gone and the quarters are long rusted away on the inside, structural paint type of situation. Welp, not worth it.
