It's a loving slog though, you have to play through the entire storyline and can't skip a single bit of it. It's worth playing if you're thoroughly sick of WoW but still want a WoW like experience.

The storyline is better but the actual quests aren't nearly as good as WoW's storyline quests unless you're only counting pre-Burning Crusade WoW. FF14's story also has the most ridiculous amount of fedex quests I've ever seen, and they didn't put a teleport near the single most important and most visited place in the entire game just to be assholes.

14's plot gets cool eventually but it does take a while to get there. Heavensward especially has an enjoyable, somewhat darker story with a lot of emphasis on adventuring to new unknown lands with your group of buddies who get a surprising amount of character development along the way. It also moves along at a good pace, somewhat frequent level gates notwithstanding.

FF14 also has a really good community unlike most MMOs. Everyone was really friendly and helpful and I never saw a single bit of rage, even when getting into some of the harder primals and failing repeatedly because a tank or healer couldn't get the encounter down. Actually now that I'm thinking more about it FF14 is a really good game if you have the time for it. Psst, it's the internet... you can see naked hot ladies any time you want. Why would you buy into someones attention whoring scheme to look at them, in clothes, playing video games? When I was on twitch, ANY girl's chat, due to the internet, was always really weird. They had to have an army of mods to avoid their chat just being "cam down bb, omg ur titz, rub them" 24/7. These mods were always the worst white knights with the strictest rules. Like, anything that can be taken as a slight towards the female caster, by an internet whiteknight fanboy -- mod or not -- can and will be called out that someone's a horrible person for saying it. They also tended to have the most obnoxious behavior regarding donations because they were all coming from creeps so you gotta pander if you want dat money... The internet is creepy.
