Political parties? What kind of catholic nonsense is this? It is not the place of the warriors of Odin to rule, only to fight! Giving away local control to anyone is a catholic notion, and anyone who argues for it is suspect of greater crimes Option 1 Besides, we have bigger issues at the moment, why are there still catholic states? Why have they not yet been converted to the one true faith, or even better, killed in the glorious name of Odin?

Option 1 I would be more sympathetic if they didn't weaken the realm when we need warriors. If there can be a deal where they provide warriors for the realm, then I would vote for the assembly.

 The vote was going so obviously in a certain direction I didn't feel it was worth keeping the vote going for a full week like usual. As compensation there will be a new vote immediately after next chapter.. The Assembly is extremely heated upon the news from the faraway Crown lands of Skotland. It seems it is not only the King that is upset over the audacity of the Skottish Lords to even suggest that they are but anything than part of the Royal Demesne of Skåne. Only a very few members of the Ting try to keep calm and propose to negotiate with the Skots but most of the assembled lords were out for blood. "Traitors!" were screamed all throughout the meeting and suggestions on how to force them become Scanians were proposed, usually involving taking some of them and impaling them on pikes along the roads. The discussions end and the vote is started with an overwhelming majority of the Lords of the Realm voting to forbid the Princes from holding a national Assembly under the Crown of Skotland. Option 1: I am the King of Skotland!  We, the Heirs of Canute are deeply pleased by the Hogting's decision, but feel it should go further. What is Skane's should remain Skane's whenever possible, this is common sense, but the royal house's neglect in solidifying the proper holdings of the North is concerning. Milsariki is one thing, but why do we allow the independence of the Danes, or the English? These territories must be seized, and the revival of the North Sea Empire declared, post-haste. The Skots are forbidden from holding any kind of assembly that would confirm the Skottish Crown as autonomous dependency of the Scanian one. To prepare for an eventual revolt from the unruly Skots the Skottish Garrison is increased with two more regiments from Halland to ensure loyalty. But just mere weeks after the Högting has convened in Trelleborg a messenger from across the Sound arrives asking the King of Skåne to support The Order in their war against the Duke of Brandenburg and the Empire. King Helge honors his obligations and the Second Royal Army with Hjalmar Krabbe is dispatched to the Pommeranian coast. To support the costs of the army war taxes are added on the Finish population.    The Jomsvikings commanders are however a bit too eager to draw blood and charge head in first into the Germans forests leaving them exposed to be surrounded by the Hamburg and Weimar Republic and the Duke of Brandenburg himself. A stupid move we don't need in a war where we have the lesser hand.   Even France joins the war and begins their invasion of the Arymôr Penninsula in hopes that the Emperor in Luxemburg, their ally, will negotiate a peace favorable for the French. It become quickly evident that the First Royal Army also has to be utilized if we are to fight this war and Helge II quickly marches to Pommerania to engage the Hamburgian Army. Hjalmar Krabbe soon enough comes to support his King but so does the Germans and eventually the Scanian troops are overrun. Talks of pulling in the Scottish Garrison of further 14 000 men is discussed but discarded because of the overwhelming threat from the Skots unrest.    The West Frisians try to cut the Scanians trade but the Baltic Squadron is quick to respond and engages the Frisian Fleet outside of Holland resulting in the Dutch quickly learning that the Scandinavians rule the sea. To be on the safe side the Royal Navy is manned with its crew and transferred to the harbor of Ribe in Slesvig in order to be capable of quick responses in the North Sea.   The Tax burdened Finns and other communities that has lost more in this war has started to petition to their local lords and the King himself, the only response from the Royal Court is that of annoyance and that the subjects of the King should be willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good of the Faith.  The French try for a push into the Jutland Penninsula but are stopped by Hjalmar Krabbe and the First Royal Army, the Second Army is prepared to come and reinforce if need be. The Scanian Pikes prove too much for the French Cavalry and they are held back... for now. It becomes quickly evident that the Skottish Garrison is needed on the mainland, however the continued threat from the Princes rising in revolt against the crown forces the Garrison with 14 000 strong loyal men to stay on the Isles. However in preparation of the potential revolt and future conflict on the mainland later Crown Prince Sigurd, little brother of Helge II, is shipped over to take command of the forces directly.    And it seems the conspirators were prepared for the young Prince arrival as an attempt on his life is made but is luckily averted by a Draki of Gleipnir takes the poisoned dagger for him. With the failed assassination attempt the conspirators push the populace to take arms by claiming that the Scanian Prince bodyguard murdered an honest Skotsman and the land fall into chaos. The Prince hurries to the local Garrison and takes control of the soldiers and quickly enforce order to the land and gains fame from all over the Kingdom as the 16 year old that defeated the Skots.   The Dutch Principalities part of the war still try to destroy the Scanian trade hegemony of the North Sea and English Channel, but the Patricians of Trelleborg are resourceful and they have gotten used to operating in a state of war and come up with solutions to make sure that trade remains safe and profitable. Westfriesland irritated over the failures at sea try to make their own attempt to invade Jutland to remove the Scanian forward base of operations at sea. It is about to be a loss for the Dutch but then they are saved at the very last moment as the Imperial Army arrives and defeats the tired and damaged regiments of the Royal Army.    Having to face manpower problems and being outnumbered by the Germans the military of Skåne has to quickly adapt and reorganize itself or fall apart. Two different schools dominate the military on how to organize it, one is to rely on foreign mercenaries to fill the ranks of the army. Second choice is to abolish the feudal hierarchy of where every noble lends his personal levy of housecarls to the realm in times of need and instead have the housecarls be dedicated to the realm itself. The later is deemed to radical to enact in a realm torn by war and unrest and as such the school of Vapencarl's is picked.    With Westfriesland now control over the North Atlantic they go out again with their fleet and engage the Jomsviking fleet, the Royal Navy is scrambled but fail to get there in time to save their brothers. Westfriesland's navy flee's back to harbour before Skåne can enact revenge.  But now with Skotland pacified for now the Skottish Garrison and what is left of the Royal Armies are transported by the Merchant Fleet to Nordjylland to make a final push to force out the Germans from Jutland. The Scanians have the upperhand for some time until the Westfriesland Army arrives to aid the Imperial Army.    As pulling the Skottish Garrison from Skotland is proven to have been done far too late to save the war King Helge turns to the Fylkariate and its Gydja's for support. Thanks to the support and connections from Lord Holmfrid in the Högting ducats are arranged to support the war effort. With the money and ideas from the reformation earlier that year a new army is commissioned named 1st Foreign Army consisting entirely of sellswords commanded by Hjalmar Krabbe.   The remnants of the Royal Forces and the Foreign Army is sent to fight the Imperial and Westfrisian army in Jutland and emerge victorious liberating Slesvig from their control. Now Milsariki without their strong benefactor in Skåne being able to save them, a Polish led coalition start a war to reclaim their lost land in Pommerania.    An attempt to invade the Germans is made by the Foreign Army and Lord Krabbe but he is stopped at Lüneburg by Dieter von Altenbaumberg from Hamburg. In the West on the Arymôr Peninsula the local populace rise in revolt against their French occupiers and their Scanian overlords. A smaller uprising also takes place in Prussia.    With rising revolts all over Skåne's domain and the manpower essentially gone King Helge forces the Warlord of the Jomsvikings to settle peace with the Germans losing almost the entire Pomeranian coast. Ending the First Pomeranian War in 1461.  The Crownlands of Arymôr is completely in Breton hands and if action is not taken soon they will have enough backing to declare themselves an independent state. The year after signing the peace with the Empire Lord Holmfrid passes away, a dear friend of King Helge and a true loss for the entire realm. With his death also dies the support for the inquisition in Finland and they immediately rise up against the crown.    The Second Royal Army move in barely having recovered from the war to try and deal with the rebels before they consolidate.   The Byzantine Empire is still falling apart and their Khazarian subjects are wishing to restore their Khaganate. Milsariki loses their gains in the Polish coalition and the second War for Pomerania ends. The Foreign Army is finally read to continue and has been shipped to Prussia to take control of the situation and put down the rebels there, which it does with ease. But the cruelty employed by the mercenaries does have its side effects...    In 1464 France declares war on Valois to regain land lost to them when the Duke of Valois joined the Empire. With the Prussians dealt with the Foreign Army is sent to Arymôr to put down the rather large rebellion there. Hjalmar does his best to try and trick the Bretons to be divided and thus be easy to kill off.    Eventually the moment comes and Lord Krabbe is not slow to exploit it and the entire rebellion is swiftly destroyed. But for Finland it does not look good...    The Second Royal Army and the First Foreign Army arrive in Southern Finland and retake the two forts guarding the Russian border. The Separatists move in to stop the Scanians who still are being hurt from lack of manpower. Spurred by their neighbors victory the Swedes also start to demand secession from the Crown.    Since there is so little soldiers now to actually pay for a lot of spare money is available for the Kingdom and are put into use to create a new grand marketplace in Trelleborg. The Royal Army and the Foreign Army return soon enough to Finland subduing all the Provinces and forcing the Separatists into Estonia and trapping them there. The war between France and Valois ends with victory for France reclaiming Rethel and the old capital of Paris. It looks like the destroyed Kingdom of France is clawing its way back.    Soon the Valkyries come to take Jens Svend who had been instrumental in the reformations of the military and keeping the further regions under control. There is however a lot of debate about the man replacing Jens Svend, a Skottish officer by the name Sivard Bowes-Lyon. He served in the Skottish Garrison for 10 years and proven his loyalty and skill but he is still not trusted fully in the Royal court but he has high praise from Crown Prince Sigurd as being the one who apprehended the would-be assassin. In the east traders talk about the Emperor of Cathay has set his eyes on the west and is preparing to put everything under Heaven under his rule but the only thing holding him at bay is the mighty Seljuk Empire of Persia.    A final push to end the rebellions in Finland are made and harsh treatment is done to intimidate the Syrian population in Jórsalheim.   The Finns refuse to surrender and fight to the very last man but in the end they are defeated and peace return to the realm.  In year of 1469 the Arquebus is invented by a craftsman belonging to the French Duke of Gascogne whose realm had migrated to the middle of Iberia on the border to the Almoravids which he is at war with. It is an invention that turns the tide of the war into his and his allies favor. The invention is quickly adopted by the Gleipnirdraki who has grown to such a point in size since they saved the life of the Crown Prince that they offer their services directly to the Realms military.    The year of 1470 begins with the Högting convening in Trelleborg yet again, this time to discuss the future policies of the country and what road the Crown should seek to walk. Known world of 1470

 The Högting convenes in the great halls of Trelleborg to discuss the future guiding policies of the Crown. Three different suggestions are offered by the various Lords and Factions present at the Assembly. Option 1: Uniformity Enforcement Policy  A very controversial topic is the Uniformity Enforcement Policy which is preached by the more religious members of the Realm. They cite the various troubles around the Kingdom and claim the only way to solve them is to force them all to submission through combination of Arms and Rites. Some of them also say if we go the full length of the planned policy that we will be able to eliminate any distinct difference between various groups in the Kingdom through a colonization project by injecting Loyalist citizens in lands with unrest. Option 2: Viking Revival Policy  A more moderate proposal comes from the Eriksson Party who has long been campaigning that we should return to the old days when exploration of the unknown was a big part of the Norse culture. We know from our old Sagas that land exists to the West of us, in fact we have colonized it once before. According to them this will give the people something to unite under and as we yet again will face the threat of the Aztec which ones united almost an entire Continent in fear of their massive armies. Option 3: Military Service Reformation Policy  The nobles however that serve as officers or provide the most levies to the Kingdom propose that the Military should be reformed in order to better handle the internal conflicts and the potential external threats that we face. Throughout the problems the Kingdom has faced it has been shown that the Scanian Royal Army is one of the most experienced and well-trained armies in Europe but it falls short when it comes to organization of resources and reinforcements. However, I would prefer to examine the best practices and tactics in each of our far flung enclaves and create a universal training program that integrates the best of each into a united whole, rather than the stated Military Service Reformation Policy. The Skots, the Finns, the Estonians, and even the Swedes conspire and rebel against us! There is one solution: these lands must be pacified and properly incorporated into Skane. The lesser Norse states must be vassalized, tamed, and ultimately annexed for their own preservation and protection. To conquer the world, to forge a true Midgard, we must wipe out internal dissent, we must destroy the possibility of rebellion, and we must united the armies of the Norse under a single command. When one looks at it, there are really only two options. Only military reforms or the religious uniformity act truly help us in our overarching goal of eliminating the hated catholic, but how should we go about it? While I wish that we could solve our problems with only military force, our enemies are far more insidious than that. In fact, our greatest threat comes not from those without, but from those within our own state! Not only must we vote for the Uniformity Enforcement Policy, we must go further, and look into the allegiances of those who claim to serve this great state, but vote for other options! Clearly, those who do not wish for uniformity are in fact traitors getting ready to betray us! We must ferret them out, and end them, before they can end us. Option 1

Option 3 In order to fulfill our goal of turning the Baltic and North Sea into a Scanian lake (read: control all islands and every coastal province), greater, more organized forces are required. We cannot possibly afford to constantly be struggling with every up jumped nationalist peasant or wasting funding on every disgruntled godi. And we CERTAINLY cannot afford to undertake any more ridiculous foreign adventures. Jorsalheim is an expensive enough undertaking, surrounded on all sides by the enemy and half the world away.

The vote is ended and it becomes clear that even though the Religious members and the Militant lords of the Realm were plenty they were outnumbered by the ones that Romanticized of the old days of Viking voyage into the unknown. However a big lot of the ones voting for the Viking Revival Policy were also wealthy landowners hoping o start enterprises to the land of Skræling's and fill their pockets by taking cheap land. It is also decided on the Ting that in order for us o safely reach the legendary land of Vinland we have to establish a forward naval base on Iceland. Unfortunately there are some local Christians on the island that has to be relocated first. The news of the policy adopted by the Realm spreads quickly across the realm and a lot of merchants and craftsmen see it as the Lords of the Realm pushing towards innovation and the future and opening up more opportunities. Thanks to it shipyards start to be common for the larger Trade cities to cope with the high demands of the Merchants.    However the demands on manpower to fight Rebellions can not be overlooked so to cope with his steps are taken to repopulate rural areas more and drainage of swamps in Fyn and Lolland. With the new need for a bigger navy and a more durable one that can safely transport entire armies to the West a proper Royal Shipyard is planned to be built on the Skanör Peninsula.   The final preparations for the invasion of Island is done and there isn't much that could stop it, but disaster happen in Prussia.... A large final push is done by the Clergy of the Romuvan faith to rally their people into open rebellion with hopes of forming their own nation of Lietuva. But even with the humongous wave of revolt currently on-going in Prussia the invasion was already on-going on the western coast of Iceland by he 1st Foreign Army under the command of Hjalmar Krabbe.    The Norwegian Royal Army has no chance to stop the invaders and perish quickly. With the Romuva revival in Prussia the Fylkariate declare that all of Norse should banner together to stop this treason upon the Scanian Crown and these acts can not go unpunished.    To try and contain the situation harsh measures are put on he Skots to dissuade them from joining he Romuvan's uprising. But there are no way to stop the Romuvans from joining the banners of the rebellion. Köningsberg fall quickly and Lihuania places troops to the border of Köningsberg to protect themselves and not let the rebellion spread to their land.    The brave people of Oretelsburg unfortunately sympathize with the Romuvan rebellion and as such is slaughtered to make examples of them and prevent future uprisings. The court of Skåne takes anoher approach to the problem and it is suggested to the King that we could import "Gunpower" to strengthen our military advantages against the rebels. More rebellious minded locals are found in Klaipéda by the Lithuanian Royal Guard and swiftly dealt with.    Since there are no solutions to deal with the unrest in Prussia for now matters are turned to the Viking Revival Policy and brave men are enlisted to travel to the distant land of Vinland, Skrælingland and Nahuariki. A minor noble from Roskilde in northern Sjælland stands out from the rest with an eagerness and vigor to explore and voyage to the unknown. He is assigned to him three of His Majesty's Ships. The Trondheim, Svan and Tapper from the Royal Navy are all commissioned for active duty and manned by brave Vikings.   Progress are done with the imported Gunpowder and the question comes to utilizing it and if we should import Arquebuses from the Iberian states. A decision is made to try and implement an Arquebus of Skåne's own design in hopes that it shall give more benefits in the future. With Skeel's fleet finally ready Oluf is given the task to find the path to the legendary land in the west.    On the cold night of 8th Feburary of 1474 the old King Helge II is found collapsed on the floor of a corridor outside his chambers dead. His brother Sigurd who is next in line have to abandon his duties in Skotland and travel back to Trelleborg to his coronation. The now heir apparent of Skåne is Eskild, King Sigurd's 25 year old son. Hail the King, Long may he Reign  King Sigurd the First having learned from his time in governing Skotland loves taking part in the administrative duties of his realm and goes in and organizes the production of goods in Trelleborg. Meanwhile the rebels in Prussia makes advances and takes the Castle of Osterode. In the west Skeel's expedition has reached the tip of Greenland.    With Oluf Skeel finding the passage to Vinland he is declared a Dýrlingur for his bravery by the Fylkir upon request from King Sigurd. On the development of an Arquebus the craftsmen tasked with it hasn't managed to make much progress at all and even worse are asking for more funds. Though even so another great Temple is commissioned by his Majesty in Sjælland being as it is the second most populous province of the Kingdom.    As more of Prussia fall under the rebels control even more local settlements join the rebellion. In contrast on Iceland the population is much easier to keep under control and have them return to worship the only true gods. As all of Prussia falls to the Romuvan horde they eventually cross the border and engage the Lithuanians.    The Lithuanian Royal Guard barely have time to react before they are completely overrun.  With a path found to the West the Mid-way Station Act is implemented which would establish small huts and stations in Iceland and Greenland for travelers take refuge on as they travel to the new-found land. With this the Högting is proven to be capable of acting upon their decisions and is authority becomes truly recognized throughout the Kingdom. Another exploration mission is given to Oluf Skeel to charter land further away from Greenland.    The Lithuanians try helplessly to contain the rebellion at their border but are outnumbered by vast amounts. Reinforcements from the coreland of Lithuania pour in and manage to push back the rebels. Another uprising is sparked in Scanian Prussia and the Lithuanians to tired to defend their land fall.    In the year 1477 on the winter the aging patrician of the Juul family dies after having served the Royal Court for so many years with his expertise. Deployment of Hjalmar Krabbe and the 1st Foreign Army is performed and they are being moved to Köningsberg to put Scanian Prussia back under the Kings control. In the west Sir Oluf Skeel has completed his second expedition mapping out more of the long lost land of Vinland finding islands and the coast of the old legendary Norse settlement. After some rest Skeel and his men are sent further deeper into Vinland to discover even more. Hjalmar Krabbe engages the rebels trying to prevent them from taking Königsberg yet again and his superior marshal skills proves too much for the inexperienced rebels.   The usage of the Printing Press has grown throughout the world all the way from the city of Meerut in India and the option has now come to the King to import this invention to the realm. The King purchases the first Printing press from a traveling Merchant from the duchy of Friesland and prints out mass quantities of the Skånelov to be distributed to all of the realm. The first publicized script in the Kingdom. In Lithuania they are about to cave to the pressure of the Romuva people and the Rus Forces have to move in to help their ally from succumbing to this false faith. But the Romuvans are stubborn and refuse to give up.    With publication being more and more common the Catholic world have started to face a troubling issue that is growing larger and larger by the day. People are translating their Holy Scripture into their local tongue removing a tool of power for the clergy and nobility. For Skåne the attention is focused on Sir Oluf Skeel who is upon his third expedition to the west and is now heading towards Skrællingland traveling down the coast of the continent. May the Valkyrie's guide him to Valhalla and may he drink and fight to his content with Odin as surely his soul is that of a great man. His replacement is the young and eager noble Ottar Vind but he isn't even near to fill the void left by the late Hjalmar Krabbe. With the great leader dead he Rebellion in Prussia gets new wind and resurfaces.    Shortly after Hjalmar dies his Highness King Sigurd I Vogelius of pneumonia and his son Eskild the First takes the crown. He has become known throughout the noble courts of the northern realms as the most beautiful man of Europe and a man with silver tongue that can make entire legions heart burn for his cause. He was as well tutored by his father and Hjalmar Krabbe and as such has a keen eye on both administration and his military duty. Even the Skottish lords have calmed themselves upon his ascension and as it looks there is a golden age approaching Skåne with Eskild at its foundation, but it all rests upon how he deals with the Romuvan unrest.... Hail the King, Long may he Reign

This young king could possibly be Baldr himself incarnate, seeing how he's able to bring over whatever lord or lady onto his side with mere words and looks. Let's hope the Romuvans realize that while our gods are different we are all still different families amongst the same tree. The Romuvan deities can become Norse still, just like the Vanir did once upon a time. That said, are we still considering Heresies for our beautiful Norse faith? Cause I think I might have a couple of ideas if so.

Look at this catastrophe! We all knew it was coming, but my peers, instead of doing anything to stop the danger, decided the best path would be to divide our attention further on foolish expeditions! Our control of the Baltic hangs by a thread, our greatest general is dead, and we even have to deal with a succession! Odin preserve us, and give us the strength to destroy these heathens!

Most frequent in the Scotland area and Milsariki, places that didn't have a real history with Norsedom until the Scanians went there, they follow only the wisdom of the All-Father and conclude that the other deities aren't actually deities at all. Secondly I'm having this weird idea with Vanatru. Where the normal Norse worship the entire pantheon, perhaps even wanting to include the Romuvans into it, the followers of Vanatru rejects most of that "inclusion" thing! They conclude that the Æsir are demons sent to bring upon them the end of times, that the Romuvans are even worse, and that only worship of the true gods the Vanir can save them. The Vanir, for those of you who don't know, are a second people of deities who joined with the Æsir after being bested by them in a war. Foremost amongst them are Freyr, Freyja and Njörd. So yeah, both of them are returns to the old ways. Church of Odin retracts to old Christian roots and the Vanatru worshippers rejects the Æsir entirely along with this notion of including other pantheons into your own.
