I grew up near New Orleans NAS and they had an ANG detachment there with a bunch of A-10s. We lived about 50 miles down river from the base and you'd see A-10s doing all kinds of crazy poo poo out over the swamp like lining up on random boats or even flying pretty low down the river itself sometimes. It was pretty cool.

So with that contract, doesn't Oshkosh make like every truck the US Military uses now? I wonder if they underbid on this one too, last time I read they were losing money on every FMTV delivery. Also, considering this contract is worth nearly 60,000 trucks in the end, you can pretty much guarantee AM General and/or Lockheed are going to contest the decision. I'm honestly surprised the contract wasn't awarded to AM General, but I can understand why they gave it to Oshkosh considering the JLTV is very similar to the M-ATV in design. Yeah seriously. This slight uptick in optempo has pushed their air force to the absolute limit of their capabilities. There is no loving way they can handle even a day's worth of combat right now. I imagine their army is no different.
