That's a good change. Keeps with the "use the one you like, not to one you have to" thing they're going for.

Yeah, I still think they're simplifying things to a pretty huge degree but I'll be honest, it's getting a little old having the same conversation with people "No, you want crit AND surge, but also power and alacrity, and no, there's no mods with surge, so you have to choose between power and crit for mods..."

Now the waiting game of finding out whether or not the new augments take the same purple augment components or if I should start dumping my backstock...

Also, I'm going to start working on a new OP to probably post in early October and will have a "FAQ" as the 3rd post so if you guys have any ideas of things that we constantly get asked PM me or just post here.

Example, "What's the best class story?" A - "That's like asking someone what the best type of porn is. I would answer 'Your basic two girls, one dude', Inkarisa might answer 'THE NOTEBOOK!', and Oedzi would answer 'Anything with tentacles.' It's a very objective question, all the stories are enjoyable to some degree and some people love one while other people hate it."

I'm really happy with these companion changes, though. It's like going from Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 2 except it's the same game.

The more idiot proof they make gearing the happier I'll be. I know some people like the minigame of putting together an optimal gearset, but I've always been a fan of oh this makes my Main Stat better, equip it. Nice and simple and rewarding. :v:

Same. Honestly, even though I know it's the wrong way to do it, I usually just equip the bits with the highest item rating and say "oh well" so I'm glad the game is finally getting on my level.

Choice for gear, talents, etc has always been an illusion in MMORPGs. People will always crunch the numbers to come up with the most optimal build, publish that on the internet, and then everyone will copy it.

Pfft. Everybody knows that the true joy of progression raiding doesn't come from the euphoria you get from finally beating a tough boss, or the sense of community you get working together with a group of like minded individuals.

No. The real thrill from progression raiding comes from getting an upgrade, only to realize it fucks over your accuracy, so now you have to swap out your gear to get yourself over the cap, but not too far over the cap. That's where the real skill comes into play when raiding. Forget not standing in fire, or any other boss mechanic, running a spread sheet in your head of what stat needs to be where is the proper way to raid.

I, frankly, want this smug Jagen to be my avatar on all forms of social media immediately.
I haven't played this game in like a year, but the news of the new expansion made me want to check it out again.

I'm a little confused about it, though. Is the KotFE stuff something you have to be subscribed to play? Or is it just "Free if you subscribe, pay for it otherwise"?

Say I want to have one of each archetype covered by the four classes. For healing I have an Operative and melee DPS I have a Marauder. So that leaves tanking and ranged DPS between Inquisitor and Bounty Hunter.

Which should I pick with each for maximum fun? I am considering both the actual gameplay and companion synergy.

Sorcerer on the Inquisitor and Powertech on the BH (I assume you mean you have ranged DPS and tanking left and healing was a typo) because Bounty Hunters are much cooler melee, and Assassin animations are boring anyway compared to lightning wizard.

I think you get it free if you're subscribed. That is to say, you could subscribe for one month and get the expansion and keep the expansion. So if you want to look at it as paying for the expansion, it costs the same as a one month sub.
Whether you'll get chapters 10+ or Season 2 if you're unsubbed when they're released, I couldn't say.

I'd say laying out basic expectations of what to expect from class stories is a good idea, to aid people in making their picks. So like:

Inquisitor LS - You are a former slave, filled with compassion for others, but also a little naive given the evils of the Sith who surround you.
Inquisitor DS - You are a bastard-coated bastard with bastard filling and almost every person you meet makes you want to shock them. So you shock them. With lightning. You really love lightning.

Trooper LS - You're an elite special forces commander. The best of the best. Imagine SEAL Team 6 except instead of the best black ops unit in the world, you're the best in the loving galaxy.
Trooper DS - You're an elite special forces commander who is long past the point of caring about good or evil, right or wrong. You would probably be tried for war crimes, except you don't leave witnesses.

Warrior LS - Whenever you encounter Jedi, they keep expecting a bastard-coated bastard with bastard filling, but instead you engage them in a philosophical debate and win so hard they get mad and attack you. It's hilarious.
Warrior DS - You sure love killing people! Also slavery is pretty awesome.

Instead of reviewing voice actors for gender, maybe a few notes like "other roles this VA has done that you may recognize" like the obvious FemTrooper = FemShep.

Oh hey speaking of voice actors, I made a joke about using Skadge for everything on Twitter now that companions are going to be more open to any roles and the voice actor for Skadge favourited my tweet and quoted it with "I like how you think, human" :3:
And then the VA for Nadia followed me and I'm a bit starstruck :allears:

A few people had mentioned that they've never seen Scum & Villainy, which is a pretty cool raid but also the longest effing raid ever. Assuming I don't go out tonight (which is a safe assumption as the few friends I have are busy), I'll see if anyone wants to run it at about 8pm since it's in group finder.

I'm sure it's doable, but it requires people that know the raid as the problem isn't damage, it's one shot kill mechanics. I would love to get TFB and S&V NiM done before KOTFE but it really would require a set group of people to commit to trying it on a semi-regular basis.

We'll see how many people are interested. If we can get 6 to start it we can always add more until we get a full group of 8 then hit group finder. The entire operation can be solo tanked with a bit of collateral damage during aggro drops. Only time we may run into an issue short manning it is invasion, but even that I'm not to worried about.
