As someone who worked with Roger as his attorney and had insight as to what happened, let me offer this: Roger hired on an hourly basis /u/jmaurice, his friend, and trusted him to design, build and be in charge of developing bitcoin.com. /u/jmaurice personally charged over $40k USD during the course of 4 months to produce the current site, quitting the project around a month ago before work was completed. To be fair, there are backend portions of the site that are not apparent to the user that raised the price tag, but nothing /u/jmaurice personally made was ultimately usable. As someone who worked with /u/jmaurice previously, I will also say that this is the second time this year he has ripped off a company/friend for tens of thousands of dollars only to leave with no explanation why.
