Sideshow Bob's the best though. But yeah, they can repeat themselves 6 seasons from now when they're out of ideas.

My favorite episode of the show at this moment. I love how they keep including all this stuff that's peppered through the history of Rick and Morty, like the Morty car thing from Justin's audition.

The movie theater at the beginning was Egan Cinema, which I bet is a reference to SF author Greg Egan (who wrote about creating a fully self sustaining, logically coherent miniverse inside a Virtual Reality microverse inside the actual universe). Also, glad they didn't do any meta joke about how people use some GoobleBox equivalent in Rick's universe - we're on top, and Rick is the closest thing to a God/Creator there is. Reminds me of the sewer mutant joke from Futurama - "How do you know your society isn't a sewer for some other society?" "Nope, we're on top - sunlight and everything."

I'm really looking forward to the next episode and an explanation for why Rick needs to code his cry for help into a song instead of simply directly telling Morty and Summer to go to the garage and pull his body out of the tank.

This lead me to a pilot for Dog World that Roiland cooked up for a potential Adult Swim show but then got too busy and shelved. Features the Rick and Morty theme song way and of course it's just storyboards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npu3VnYs3IA

Plus if time was always accelerated then the battery would only be good for two hours before it went into heat death.

That whole idea in this episode is from the end of this clip, isn't it? Also, episode owned. Still kinda like the 1st ep of season 2 a bit more, since a clip from it convinced me to watch this show originally, but my 2nd fav episode ain't bad at all.

So I just binged through this and it's amazing. But what astounds me the most is the fact that it actually has continuity. When Morty brings up the fact that the dead versions of himself in the current dimension are buried outside from a previous episode, I thought "drat, his real parents are still out there, fighting for their lives." And when Mr. PoopyButthole almost died, I thought "drat, all those great episodes with him and this is how he goes out, huh?"

I think the lower verses had time dilation but not Rick's engine, which is why it's only brought up for the first time by the president and allows for enough time to pass for Forest Marty to occur.

Don't get me wrong, I laughed pretty hard at car-Morty's resigned look, but does anyone else feel like the "Morty, turn into a car" joke would have been funnier if they didn't actually show it happening in the stinger (or in future episodes)?

There must be some dilation, since Rick waited until a planet with intelligent life on it formed inside his microverse. So maybe it's something you can turn on and off. Wouldn't want the entire race to go extinct due to the sun expanding while you're parked!

The joke is that the final piece of the puzzle is figuring out how to artificially accelerate the miniature universe's time so you can get your target species into the sweet spot of liberal democracy. From there all you have to do is exploit all their surplus
