Look at how long it's taking WG to make something as simple as CTF-with-respawns and you've got your answer right there.

The DotA maps is a knock on WG's map design, many of their maps boil down to 3 lanes which tanks have to fight along or guard (Think Mountain Pass - High Road/Middle/South). Maps that don't have impassable terrain and are more open to allow flanking are generally regarded as "better," (Steppes is usually mentioned here) but WG has a hard time getting them to work because they don't understand how to play their game.

As far as PvE mode, they're played with it internally several times and each time come away saying it's never going to happen. Probably for the best, the idea of WG programming a PvE AI is pretty laughable.

Yeah Steppes is great because it is not built around 3 or 4 lanes to attack through. I cant think of another map like that and wish there were more.

This seems like really confusing advice. Why on earth would I ever not want to have 6th sense?

I know, it's not a big deal, it's just one of those things that bothers you (in this case, me) when you know how something's supposed to be. When you're speaking a foreign word that has its own forms, you don't just edit it according to the rules of a different language, particularly in terms of pluralization. I mean you can do it, but it's still incorrect. Take "species" which is both singular and plural; I can totally see some idiot coming up with "specie" (which is actually a real form but not relevant to this context) or "specieses". (Also, somewhat related, I feel awkward pronouncing words like "Illinois" or "Detroit" how we're used to hearing them when I know exactly how they're pronounced in the native French.)

As far as the Mentor comments go, just ignore it. I'm just being an rear end in a top hat and referring back to the argument we've been having. It kind of got away from us and deviated away from the initial point, and we're all tired of discussing it but I'm rubbing it in because I'm an rear end in a top hat. Keep in mind I'm the guy who gives gold payouts to goons who successfully troll. Don't be like me. Unless you want to be awesome! :iamafag:

Which is why they would at least re-set it for free, since you would have to go through the effort to set your skills back up.

Well I don't think it would be bad for everyone to have 6th; certainly it's an advantage, and it'd be better for the playing field to be leveled. (DOUBLE ENTENDRE!!!) As nice as it is having 6th now, I find it incredibly disorienting to switch between vehicles that do and don't have it. I have hundreds of tanks in my garage and most of them don't have great crews (because I didn't move them up the lines at the beginning.) (Also, hilariously this makes me a poor spokesman with regards to the "Mentor" thing, and wasn't my point in the first place, but I digress. I'm more than happy to drop it.)

I'll concur with what frood wrote is in addressing the DotA lane comment; roughly speaking, the early maps tend to be better and more creative, and later ones more "laney," occasionally being clones of earlier maps (and I'm not talking about the "fiery" or "Winter" versions; see Detroit vs. Himmelsdorf, where they most recently flipped the former around to look less like an obvious clone of the latter) They tweak them all the time though (think early vs. current Redshire.)

I hadn't heard that PvE was abandoned, and I don't think this would be the case especially since AW seems to be developing it nicely. Last major thing I knew about was that they were working on a spawn-based PvE mode where the players were defending a city (Ensk or whatever) from tank spawns around the perimeter. Personally I wouldn't mind any PvE mode where compensation was entirely derived from damage done; shitters would get nothing (penalized for 0 damage, even) and bots flagged easily, so hopefully they'd be quickly identified and removed from the game. Win-win!

I am sorry sir but it only had 2200 HP and only six shots of 560 damage shells with the most accurate gun in the game. Wargaming believe that it was underpowered so much that when they were planning on "nerfing" it they removed a shell and gave it a faster reload, which almost every good player said that was a massive improvement because that last shell is much less important than eight seconds off the reload time.

Wargaming.

Since we are all good players, maybe we actually create a statistical anomaly in every match we play.

Imagine a tanks match without a competent player on either side.
Is that the real game that we will never be able to experience? Is the ultimate core of gameplay centered on two Durchbruchswagens playing bumper cars?

I love how they are selling the 4th level as 7 maps, when 4 of them are Himmelsdorf and Ruinberg with their snowy counterparts. Yet another reason it was loving retarded to bother with those variations at all.

This is also yet another stealth nerf to the Pak40, since it won't see any long distance maps where it can abuse the poo poo out its laser gun and view range without seeing tier 5s it can't pen. RIP.

Only the hills are fun to be in. The river road is nothing but continuous arty and TD rounds hailing all around you, and the middle is too cramped to really do anything. It is far from the worst map they have, however.

West on Abbey is fine because it is two lanes that support eachother and 2 line can help center. Center can shoot into 2 line and east - if 6 line could more easily climb into abbey that would be much better. If the east river was instead dry with a sharp overhang to protect flankers, the map would be pretty good. Also if people knew not to try to CAPFAST that would be great.

Lol wrong, those are terrible examples. Hippopotamus is from ancient Greek to Latin to English, and the Latin plural is Hippopotami. I've never even heard "syllabuses;" every instructor I've known has said "syllabi." Part of this all may have to do with us being from different regions, but again, you can say whatever the gently caress you want and still be wrong. There's a difference between a living language and components lifted directly from another language. You can totally modify your language, but that doesn't change the rules of the other language. If you're speaking English with unmodified (i.e. not English derivatives) foreign words, you're technically speaking both languages. That's the point; if you're speaking something from a second language, and someone recognizes that you've made a mistake in terms of style, spelling, inflection, conjugation, etc., you shouldn't be offended when they correct you. I hope this has cleared up the misunderstanding; in the future, however, please keep your posts on-topic.

When you put it like that it sounds like a mirror-image Lakeville; one side is worthless and easily defended, the opposite side is the important part, and the middle supports. In the end, for some maps the problem is the players and not the maps themselves. Usually Wargaming is the problem though.

That lovely slog used to be a lot worse, though. There was ONE corner to fight at, and that was it. Now there are 3-4. The big problem still remains, however- it is suicidal and tactically useless to be anywhere near the middle of the map. If they made it less of a deathtrap and gave it more access to the bases, it would balance the whole map a lot better.
