Thanks! I'm still gonna paint the giant hole in the middle of the TIE as the engine, since it doesn't feel right otherwise. That thing is fast and needs a giant engine.

At least with the older TIE/LN you can see the two spots opposite of each other on the sides of the middle reactor (which you're painting as the big gently caress off engine) and can put little dots of red or whatever to indicate the exhaust. It's less clear where those tiny twin ion engines are located at the back of the TIE/FO.

Turbonerdchat: the two little red lights are the engines. Twin Ion Engines. Get it? That's why they named it that! And not because it looks like a bow-tie. Please see page 155-159 (out of 2,300) of the Wookiepedia article on TIE-fighters the exhaustive history of the etymology of the name and how of course Lucas had that in his head the entire time while writing, because he is a modern day Tolkien and none of the people he surrounded himself with disagreed with that analogy!

I was planning on getting the X-Wing at least separately, and it doesn't come with Luke. Or R2-D2.

I bought a Tie Punisher and immediately broke the stand off inside it :smith:

I filed down the broken parts and glued it, I hope I don't have to green stuff it on there.

EDIT: Has anyone been to Target to get the new core set? Do they carry anything besides the core set? They have that $10 off of $50 deal but I don't want to get just a regular toy to make the $50. If I could get a core set and another ship that'd be perfect.

I'll put up a link when I'm on my desktop, but there is a file for each card type that provided you have photoshop you can make your own high quality cards. Most wikis and such are 72dpi and look like garbage when printed.

All the links above are 72dpi, so the text on the upgrade cards is really hard to read.

Flew this list again, pulled out another win. Went up against a Mux, black sun soldier, and 2x Hired Gun Y's with TLTs and unhinged astromechs. My opponent didn't really know what to shoot at first. He aimed at Boba first with his Ys but he takes a minute to wear down with TLTs. After reducing him to 3 hull he decided to switch to Serrisu which I learned is VERY susceptible to TLTs. He went down in 1 round. Hard. Going to have to give that some thought. But by that time I had cleared his BSP and his Mux so it was a full health Guri w/stealth device and a 3 hull Boba vs 2 limping Ys. And since Guri loves range 1 (the TLT blindspot) and has the higher PS, it was over. Was thinking about making the following changes:

The tactical jammer didn't really come in to play and I think glitterstim might be clutch considering how easy it is to block Boba. And since I never project him living more than 3-4 rounds of firing, the single use aspect fits right in. As for Serissu and the TLTs....I dunno. I don't know if there's a solution for that one. Just keep him out of the fight and take an evade action every round.

Glitterstim on Scum Boba Fett is pretty swanky, but instead of a Recon Specialist consider a K4 Security Droid instead. It allows you to take a free Target Lock whenever you pull off a green maneuver, which then in turn allows you to, for example, Evade as your action and bump your Firespray's survivability up a notch while still maintaining offensive capability (or TL + Focus if that's your bag).

In other news a Facebook message from my FLGS owner says that he'll have his own Episode 7 core sets in on the 17th, so I suppose I can wait a couple weeks. Also I'm already beginning to see people decry the new ships as too overpowered for their cost and suggesting that tournaments should borrow a page from Warhammer and houserule things like point costs or disallowing The Force Awakens ships from crossing over with "classic era" ships. Got two games of XWangs in tonight with two thread-suggested fat tentpole + wingman combinations, both games were against a friend testing the K-Wing w/stuff (I think G1 was KWing and XWing, G2 was KXZ).

Game 1 I went Bossk(Calculation, Mangler Cannon, Engine Upgrade, Gunner, K4 Security Droid, Outlaw Tech, 'Hounds Tooth") + Xizor(VI, Autothrusters, 'Virago', Accuracy Corrector, Glitterstim). Bossk threw damage everywhere as he ate a lot of fire, Xizor kinda got misdirected at the start because I am bad at xwangs but managed to fix his poo poo and swooped in from behind, popped his Space Meth, and blew up the K-wing right before it was going to kill Bossk (Who had just thrown on the space e-brake to ruin the X and K-wings plans to be outside his primary arc).

Game 2 was Fat Chiraneau(Expose, Engine Upgrade, Merc Copilot, Rebel Captive, Ysanne Isard, "Dauntless") and Vader(Lone Wolf, Stealth Device, TIE/x1, Advanced Targeting Computer). Original plan was to have the crew be Agent Kallus + Moff Jerjerrod, but my friend didn't want to start getting into unreleased cards, so I swapped to "Range 3 crits to complement my range 1-2 crits" + protection. Chiraneau moved+boosted turn 1, turns 2+3 he bumbled up and Expose+4-5 dice+crits and nuked people off the board while Vader harassed a side and was impossible to hit.

I have a rules question regarding the Inquisitor TIE + PTL + Title

Is it legal to take a TL, get the free evade from the title, then use PTL to grab a free focus/barrel roll/boost?

Or does the stress from PTL prevent the free evade granted by the title from taking a TL?

If you can spend the action taking a TL, you'll get the evade token. It's the same order of operations as Jake Farrell, where you can boost, push the limit in order to focus, and then perform a barrel roll from getting that focus.

Can someone explain to me how Huge ships perform the bank maneuver?

It says "fits snugly into the notch at the bottom of the template." I see a couple ways of aligning the template to the base, but none of them are what I would call "snug," and it doesn't help that the picture in the manual is not zoomed in at all.

This is the "snuggest" way I can think of aligning them, but it doesn't match the picture and seems entirely wrong.

Ditto. Picked up a new Core Set, Rebel Transport, Decimator, Lambda Shuttle, Slave 1, Millenium Falcon, Phantom, HWK, and a K-Wing. However, I'm pissed about the K-Wing.

Despite this picture from Fantasy Flight's article on SLAM and Bomb explicitly showing moving, executing SLAM/dropping a bomb, they've ruled that this was a mistake and that the K-Wing cannot do this.

Fantasy Flight Games posted:

When a ship executes a SLAM action, it does not count as revealing a dial, so the ship cannot drop a bomb before performing the maneuver during the SLAM action.

I wouldn't call it false advertising, but I picked up the K-Wing specifically so I could move/bomb/SLAM with it. Sounded like a fun trick to try to pull off, and I'm a bummed that I now can't. Oh well, still looks like fun ship to fly.

As for the Conner Net/Ion Token thing, Fantasy Flight gave a ruling on the Conner Net that seems to follow a very liberal interpretation of the Ion Token reference card.

Fantasy Flight Games posted:

If a Conner Net is dropped overlapping a ship and immediately detonates, and that ship has not yet activated this phase, that ship executes the maneuver on its dial as normal and skips its “Perform Action” step. If a Conner Net is dropped overlapping a ship and immediately detonates, and that ship has activated this phase, that ship suffers the effects of being ionized next turn and does not skip any “Perform Action” step. If a ship is ionized, executes its 1 straight maneuver, and overlaps a Connor Net, all ion tokens are discarded at the end of the maneuver (including those received from Connor Net).
