Dunno what chargers you all are playing with, I see a rare good one a lot of tolerable ones and a ton of poo poo ones. Like the 2 this morning who had 3 splat between the two of them on underpass rainmaker. I thought I was doing horrible that match until I saw the stats at the end. It was basically 4 on 2 I'm amazed we kept them from a knock out

I don't know what games people are playing where the bottom of the roster isn't haunted by aerosprays, carbon rollers, splatershot jrs etc, all struggling to score more tham a couple hundred points.

I think the worst thing about Splatoon for me is I'm in S and I can't use anything but the .Gal. I'd love to try a roller or whatever, but I'm guaranteed to do so shite with it I'll be letting my team down. And it's not the same game in tur war, damnit.

I'm not a very good charger, when I choose to use one. Using all the different weapons is fun though.

Well, after testing both of the splatling guns, I like the short charge time on the mini splatling but I don't really feel as comfortable taking it into a fight as I do with the heavy splatling. It takes a long time--it felt like almost a full charge--to take someone out with it. You have to be really accurate with it, and that's easier said than done when someone's bearing down on you. The short range is a bit of a pain, too. But it does feel handier than the heavy splatling, and it gets a lot of ink out, real fast. The sub and special are about a horse apiece between the two of them, but the inkzooka does a lot to offset the short range and relatively low damage, and as far as lethality goes is probably more useful than the inkstrike, just because it's harder to dodge (my inability to aim the loving thing notwithstanding.) I never really used the suction bombs, simply because I was shooting the gun so much I didn't have ink to spare. Overall, I like the mini splatling. I can't say for sure whether I like it more than the heavy splatling, but the mini does get around some of the problems I had with the heavy.

Jonas Albrecht posted:On Amiibo gear, what are my odds of rollong triples? For Amiibo gear, there's an equal chance for every sub ability. I believe there are 14 sub abilities, right? That means if you're looking for one specific ability it's 3 rolls at 1/14, which works out to 1/42. That being said, if you're getting 18-24 Seashells per Splatfest, it's not that bad if you just want to get your freshest/favorite gear in good shape.

Jonas Albrecht posted:Roughly how many rolls would it take to make it likely? If you roll 1902 times, you'll have a 50/50 chance of not having gotten it already. EDIT: Note, this is assuming you're using equipment that has an equal chance to roll each sub ability. This also makes assumptions about the independence of each individual ability roll as well as each the independence of each time you ask Spike to reroll everything for you. To calculate the probability of something occuring after x number of rolls, you take the probability that you don't roll it x times in a row and then multiply that figure by the probability of the occurrence. So in this case, we're looking for (1- (1/14)^3)^x * (1/14^3) = 0.50, solving for x. Just throwing that into Wolfram Alpha gives a solution of 19819.044. So you'd have to roll 19820 times to be more likely than not to roll what you want. e:f,b, and my math is probably wrong by what looks like an order of magnitude

I don't know why you're multiplying by the probability of occurence, actually. EDIT: Excel corrobrates 1902 as well. Just Andi Now fucked around with this message at 02:17 on Sep 6, 2015 |

Well, that poor math was embarrassing! Judging from everyone's responses, I guess the real lesson is don't bother. It's a good thing the sub abilities don't have too much of an impact. As a side note though, if the favored abilities odds are 5/14 that would make triples about a 4% ( (5/14) ^3) chance, right?

Are there videos anywhere of gear with all the same attributes for main and sub? The ones I see on youtube only have main tripled. Curious to see what having 6 swim speed up looks like.
