Best way to soften convoys and have fun: drive the buzzard flame car in front of them until a grinder or rammer finally gets you. Then pop flares for Chum to the rescue.

If you quit/restart, it'll give you between 9-10 scrap immediately. If you quit, go to work for 8 hours, then come back home, it'll give you like 20-30 scrap. If you wait a whole day it gives like 50ish scrap. I imagine the rewards would be nicer if you had one in each of the bases, cause then you'd be getting like 150-200 scrap a day. e: I just figured out how to make Chum drive while I'm sniping, but apparently you can make him snipe? How the gently caress do you do that?!

I took about 36 hours off and got like 450 scrap from two bases, combined.

Also I can't seem to get this convoy in Gutgash's territory (route marked in red) to show up: Like, I can find the blackened road of the Convoy route, but the route never gets acknowledged and marked on my map, and even though Chumbucket occasionally comments that it's a convoy route and that convoys are good targets, etc, the convoy itself never shows up despite me following the route in circles multiple times, both clockwise and counter-clockwise. Is it bugged or something? Am I doing something wrong here?

I've played a few where I've just been side questing and because I haven't 'unlocked' key features of the game I spent the majority of my time without the coolest toys. So in GTA5 I didn't want to play 'gimped' so I just kept doing story.. until I finished it before I really realized. You've gotta do enough story that the game opens up properly and you're playing the whole thing.. but then I wanna stop and do open world exploring and progress the main plot when I've got the unlocks/upgrades from hours of exploring. It's hard sometimes to pick where that point is and I either do too much story or too little. Really good games like Morrowind actually told you straight up, ok, go off into the open world now and basically leave the main characters alone for a bit, please.

Searching the store, it's apparently pre-order only. Kinda stupid that if I bought the game at retail today I'd still get the bonuses (since it's actually tied to the first print run rather than pre-orders) but I'm screwed if I buy the game a day late digitally.

I'm surprised the intro doesn't lead into you directly playing as Max in the Interceptor having to fight off swarms of bad guys chasing you as a tutorial / "Taster" chapter. You could learn the controls for car combat, would get your hands on the loving Interceptor for a while and get a feel of just how powerful the Opus can become in terms of performance by giving you an awesome car and then handing you the junker. You'd "die" eventually, but that's the idea.

That'd suck, plenty of people in this thread are so good at pressing x + y that i'd just be a neverending fistfight in a moshpit of wrecked/crashed cars. I mean, it sounds awesome when you put it like that, but imagine doing it until you got bored and had to just let them kill you. E: Assuming you can get out anyway, I find the enemies are pretty good at wearing down your car if they're actually armored.

Hah, it seems I wasn't the only one who got a bit confused with the "build the Jack" mission - where you get thrown by needing bars but can't buy them. Of course the solution is to select everything that's green and then the prompt will trigger to head to the next mission. However in googling this I did find some fantastic rants where people claimed they returned their game utterly sure it was a bug the developers were refusing to acknowledge. But it is a pretty poorly designed part of the game as people were driving up to the stronghold expecting to go in and confused to why nothing was happening. Also another handy tip: if driving around storms hunting down crates, it's far easier to just shotgun them and then collect the booty than harpoon the bloody things or try to break it open before your head is by a flying piece of metal. As for stronghold metal things - no ignore them as simply doing every other project will tick of at least "do five things for stronghold" achievement. There's no real benefit to completely upgrading a stronghold unless you enjoy warm fuzzy feelings.

Here's hoping they add something in. The one thing missing from these SOM/Mad Max style games is the enemies/allies never seem to actively do anything. gently caress, Jeet was talking about trading/convoys, he should actually send the things out. You should be able to see them. Buzzards should fight roadsters/scrotus and vice versa. Scrotus should actually siege a place once in a while or replace convoys (if only because they're so fun). Story thing (pink eye) Yes, I know that gets attacked, I mean every now and again when you roll up to a place let the catapults be there, have those fuel tanks on the catapults unarmored for outside the story events so they'll be fun to blow up without being a massive chore dogstile fucked around with this message at 16:54 on Sep 8, 2015 |

There are potential functions in the game I wish got added: -Being able to board another vehicle by jumping straight from your car to theirs (having chum take the wheel). So when the Opus is almost out of health you could hijack another car then call chumbucket after the carnage is over. -Practical uses for PoV mode for driving other than providing neat screenshots. Like if an enemy boards you and starts kicking your face through the windshield you switch to first person and punch/shoot back, having multiple boarders beating on you and grabbing at your steering wheel to try to make you crash. -Blackfinger, Warrior, and Dog being 3 possible partners in the Opus. Black finger (Chumbucket) is the same, Warrior (Tenderloin) cannot repair but can fight off boarders and automatically attack nearby enemies when you leave the car, and Dog(Dinki Di) which detects minds, hidden scrap locations, etc and barks to warn of enemies approaching not yet revealed on the minimap. Dog can't drive so you can't call the car, obviously.

BitterAvatar posted:So how exactly do you find the big crates in the storm? I sat through one but never saw anything flying around to harpoon. Do they show up after its over? Nah, they get blown around by the storm, you have to keep your eye out on radar and 'poon them. I got my first trying to get to shelter and a 'muthaloot' box rolled by. Harpooned it, then drove back to the Stronghold. Got in there, but didn't realize that I need to smash the box. After the storm passed it was sitting outside the stronghold. Scrap pallets are pretty awesome when you find them.

Do the loot boxes also show up in the crazy lightning storms, or only in the dust storms? Also, what determines which one you get - is it just that some locations have the lightning storms and some locations just have wind and sand?

I found scrap pallets underwhelming. Only like 40-50 scrap out of each (bonus ~20 if you maxxed the scrap thing with Griffa). Same with the scavenging locations that just have two scrap nodes that each yield less that 10 scrap each. Those kind of feel like a waste of time.

To add to the other answers, I found that any near enough to show up on the minimap during the end minutes of the storm persisted after the storm ended. I hunkered in a little canyon in the car and waited the storm out, and ended up with 4-5 crates around me when it was over.
