Hey, not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but are bomb tokens (specifically proxies and clusters) able to overlap other bomb tokens and/or asteroid tokens (or debris fields I guess)? Or will they immediately detonate if they do?
Just curious as I sometimes play with my dad after bringing it over and getting him hooked on it, and now he's just bought a TIE Punisher and is very keen on making GBS threads out bombs all over the place. (like father like son, I guess - I do the same with my Ys when I use 'em)

X-Wing is a game where it's really easy to spend more money. A new ship is easily within "impulse buy" range for most of its market.

Do you need that ship? Nah, you can have fun with just the core set! But that ship...it looks neat! That guy over there has three! Holy poo poo is that the Millenium Falcon?

It's not just that the ships are in an impulse buy threshold...even the bigger ships are like $30, which isn't onerous even for someone who isn't fabulously middle-class to do on a once-a-month basis...but that once you have one you can easily get a lot of mileage out of it with different pilots, configurations of upgrades, etc. My most regular opponent loving loves flying Chewbacca in the driver's seat of the Falcon so he's got that "immune to crit effects" thing going but he could always switch it up with Han or Lando and it would run differently, mix up the crew and pilot talent, etc, and you have the makings of a list that, despite sharing some common elements, still plays differently enough that it's not just a token copy-paste, plus you can mix up the rest of your list alongside it, etc.

So my FLGS owner says he wants to try and encourage some regular X-Wing play at the store, he's putting feelers out with some folks he knows further north who might be interested in coming down to his store to play X-Wing if we can arrange something weekly or twice-monthly or something like that, and he hopes that doing that will encourage more people to show up and join in ala FNM. I really loving hope this takes off because man I need to play some more Wangs.

The only thing that will cause a bomb to detonate by overlapping is a ship base or movement template.

FFG has league kits. Usually a few promos and a token set or something like that. Our store does semi regular leagues with those and they're usually successful. 3 games a week, max, and then a sixth week for makeup games if you're missing any.

Just noting that the Punishing One Title shows how utterly, utterly wrong they were in the YT-1300. The Punishing One Title is 12 points, for +1 Weapons value.

For the 15 points from generic YT-1300 to Chewbacca, you get....

+4 PS
+1 Weap
+2 Hull
+1 Shield
+1 EPT Slot
+1 Missile Slot
And a special.

Aww gee, I can't IMAGINE why it's so good guys. (I have a built in hatred of Large Base Plus Turret.)

Do you guys typically find that it is not effective when utilizing an all small base squad to use those elite pilots with things like lone wolf? i.e. a squad comprised of an elite Y-Wing, an elite Kiraxhz and then N'dru in a Z95 with Lone Wolf and stuff?

So basically the other 2 ships would hang out and then the LW ship would hunt by itself? Does that ever work out or does it end up just making it easier to kill your stuff?

The problem with Lone Wolf is that your ships are going to want to focus fire, and when your ships are shooting at the same target they're generally flying towards each other. They're going to get close enough to turn Lone Wolf off.

So, now I want to put Lone Wolf on someone with a turret...

Even with turrets, I switched to using PTL dash instead of lone wolf dash cuz of the focus fire issue. There's just no effective kiting method better than having your kiters stay in formation while doing so. (E.g. Dash and a cheap 1300 or Y/K wing buddies)

Slab Squatthrust

You have to run Lone Wolf Dash differently, and you don't stay in formation. Focus firing still works when you're on different sides of the target, and not focusing a single target is fine if you're avoiding the return shots.

Edit: same goes for any LW ship really though. A big part of using one is actually deployment and the first two turns if movement.

It has the same ~1/4 chance of allowing you to just ignore a crit, damage and all, but the real reason to take Determination was to prevent Injured Pilot from neutering your pilot ability, and that's no longer a concern.

Story can't probably be as funny as we all imagine it.

I personally assume the joke is that idea of someone paining a certain flag on top of a Millenium Falcon, but I also choose to believe that someone also put a small hotwheels General Lee onto a X-wing miniatures stand as well. I can't decide which one is funnier.

I usually only use LW in 2 ship lists but Ive used it with N'dru quite a bit and after a few games to get the spacing down it gets pretty easy.

I use Ndru with LW, clusters and hotshot blaster that way if I see the other guy trying to single out Ndru and focus him before he gets his clusters off I can 3 Hard turn away and catch him off guard and get a 4 dice hotshot blaster at him then he either has to continue to chase my Z-95 for a few turns and eat shots from the rest of my ships or disengage and give N'dru a few more turns of breathing room where I can k-turn and keep distance from the rest of my ships.

Both are great, but the one that happened in the thread was the Millenium falcon with a confederate flag on it.

Because of SA's official/unofficial policy of degenerating into unnecessary gnashing of teeth, we did the rounds on 'it's just a game' 'what the gently caress, slavery you idiot' 'yeah, ok, but dukes of hazzard' 'that show is bullshit' 'come on you guys' 'what are you, some kind of autist?' 'if I saw that I'd be like wow cool paint job' 'if I saw that, I would slap the person in their stupid mouth with my dick' 'it's not like nazis' 'yes it is too like nazis'.

But someone came up with a cool funny way to say it, with that trailing off in the middle of a sentence meme, and the thread was able to go back to talking about xwing, and we got a fun new title.

Personally, I think the backstory where Han loses the falcon in a bet (the same way he won it) and then some space redneck puts that flag on it, and Lando finds out later and just is like :stonklol: "what the gently caress did you let that guy do to my ship" and han tries the lame "hey, he won it fair and square", and lando would be all "Get frozen in carbonite, rear end in a top hat" could be a great Robot Chicken skit or something.

I shouldn't tell you this but you're the only one I can trust...
Lone Wolf and/or hit and run attacks can work, but it requires a strong understanding of both your maneuverability with respect to the table and intimate knowledge of your opponent's dials. You must be able to perform hit and run attacks that provide you with more opportunities to fire than your opponent. You must also be able to judge appropriately to get multiple wings of your attack to enter firing range of your target the same turn. This is hard. I got lucky and did this last night with some A-Wings, leaving Echo alone on the other side of the table while my while lady cleaned up Rhymer and his escort.

Cloning a half-maori bounty hunter to use as a source of obedient canon fodder is a serious issue that the New Republic has to atone for. Clones never really got the option to make a free choice to serve as stormtroopers. Some even worked hard to bring peace and order to the galactic empire. Can there be any other explanation for poor marksmanship during key moments when pursuing Rebel personnel than passive resistance?

I think he eventually did make a deal with the two Dice Masters players who regularly show to split up the league swag for a nominal fee to recoup some costs. I guess that's a possibility. Anyway I told him I'd help with whatever I could...demoing games, loaning squads, generally being there as my lovely work schedule permits, etc. We'll see what happens.

Is it worth upgrading Z-95's or are they too brittle to really be worth it? Also is it worth taking almost naked Firespray's?

Guri (41)
StarViper (30), Push the Limit (3), Proton Torpedoes (4), Virago (1), Accuracy Corrector (3)

Kaa’to Leeachos (21)
Z-95 Headhunter (15), Wingman (2), Engine Upgrade (4)

Mandalorian Mercenary (38)
Firespray-31 (35), Outlaw Tech (2), Veteran Instincts (1)

I want to try thing with the Z-95 supporting the StarViper and Firespray with Wingman and sometimes getting a free focus off Guri. I'm right in thinking that Guri can Focus as an Action, gain a Focus Token in the Combat phase then Kaa'to can take one from him.

Z-95s aren't usually worth upgrading, no, because their dial is too meh. Generic, naked firesprays are rarely worth it. Guri does get another focus for her ability if she has one, yeah, though I think it's usually better to keep the focus for defense if you have one on offense as well- green dice are a lot better with focus.
