Genghis Khan murdered so many people that Iran reached the same population it had in the early 1200's in 1950's. You know, just to compare population extremes.

The 1937 Soviet census was suppressed because it clearly showed that there were a bunch less people in the country than there should be ~for some reason~, but the 1927 one lists 29 million people in Ukraine. Then in 1950 its about 37 million but this is largely due to the increase in territory as the Soviet Union took over areas in the west. Still the population went up rapidly until it peaked in the late 80s to almost 52 million. Since then its dropped to only 44 million. Yeah I'm definitely down for trying a pile of cheese with chilies in it. We used to grill cheese stuffed peppers all the time and they were great. Everything I've eaten from a yak has been amazing.
