Is that it? That's probably it. Could be worse, I guess. If I had to pick something to be bellowed accross the house at 6:00 in the morning, WAFFLES is way better than PIKACHU I CHOOSE YOU or DO YOU WANNA BUILD A SNOWMAN :byodood:

Personally, I would rather have my birb talking about Pikachu than singing an off key mangled parrot version of "Do Ya Wanna Build A Snowman"....or even worse , "Let It Go".

I love that song, but hearing my goddaughter belt it out for several hours straight at her birthday (off key 4 year old for teh w1n), I think my ears are still bleeding. I can only imagine the birb rendition...I would probably be pondering the benefits of how long it takes to cook said birb.

According to the video description, baby hummingbirds are intentionally plumped up just before they fledge. That way they have the (incredibly rare for hummers) luxury of some extra fat to live off of during their first independent days.

It comes with the side effect of making them as graceful as a bowling ball.

Great.

Welp, I thought I had two female parakeets.

Potassium took a shine to a hole in a storage box, which I thought was cute and harmless until she got broody, so I broke out the dummy eggs and made her a little sittin' spot with her own food and water. Figured the whole thing would pass.

The dummy egg company gave me six eggs. She laid six more.

And time passed. Curiosity Rover Jones, who I have to believe is now a he, started getting antsy a week ago, taking to hang at night on the outside of the cage nearest to Postassium.

And just tonight, I hear a sound I've managed to prevent for 15 years, scree, scree, scree.

I'm enchanted of course, but scared because I wonder if I should try to boil/freeze the remaining eggs and replace them. Will this trigger Potassium to lay more eggs, or disrupt the nest too much so that she abandons her baby? The question is whether poor Potassium can handle raising more than one baby without making her too weak. She's a good strong bird, but I worry so. The male has not figured out how to feed the mother through the hole in the nesting box, so she's on her own in there with the food I leave her.

The cage is quite big. It has two parakeets in it, and it can handle probably four to six very comfortably, and I leave the door open for several hours a day, minimum. As far as I know, the exhausting part is laying them. If you can somehow make the hole big enough or something so the partner can feed her/the babies, they should do fine in general.

Enjoy your little peeps.

Skillet is a great name, what one were you thinking of to do with eggs? You could do an egg pun that's a bit less obvious, like Scramble(ed), Sunny (side up), Fry (up), Smash (Mouth eat the eggs), Eggward, etc etc etc I'm terrible at this oh god
