The Geoff posted:Just noticed that the devs of Vietnam '65 have officially announced the Afghanistan-themed sequel. "Includes a full nation building module". Nice. Vietnam 65 is really good so I'd buy this even if it was a cheap reskin but it looks like there are some solid improvements.

Does anyone know if Battlefront ever has a sale, or is their price scheme even more of an eternal gently caress you than other grognard game makers?

Their games do eventually go down in price, but they have never had a sale that I am aware of.

Can someone direct me to the Blood Bowl II thread? I want to bitch and complain about the beta, though half the problems are possibly my inability to roll a two dice block and the AI can roll block on a single dice every bloody time. The interface appears to be worse than Blood Bowl I. As are the cheerleaders.

I don't think one exists for 2 yet. Congrats, you get an OP! Make sure the only information contained within is the bullshit RNG. Even the first one had a problem with being rage inducing. They've probably done little but improve their bullshit algorithm to make it generate more refined bullshit. Is the AI better like they promised? I don't have the patience to join a league.

I am never Attacking a convoy in shallow water (160? feet!) Ever AGAIN There is not a D: big enough for that last image. I have no loving clue how or if I'm gonna survive this. I think the ships have lost me though, because they've stopped pinging and are cruising slow. Doesn't stop them from passing straight over me at one point and dropping depth charges worryingly close. I'm running along at 1-2 knots, just trying to constantly turn away from the 2 destroyers(?) hounding me while traveling in the same general direction out of the convoy. I dunno what else to do. My previous tactics involved evading solo escorts. I'd go slow until the pinging stopped and he was passing overhead, then gun my engines and turn while listening to the hydrophones, if he cut his engines I'd go all stop and let momentum coast me a while. But with multiple escorts, I know at least one of the two is always listening even if the other is pinging. I guess I just gotta pray they continue to get a weak trace on me and give up. Speaking of the convoy it is a LOT larger than I thought it was. There must be over two dozen ships in 3 columns, all steaming to freshly captured Singapore. There were at least 3 escorts on each side and a lead escort. Hell, there is probably cruisers up there, not just destroyers. I'm loving terrified oh what I've blundered into. To make things worse, my point-blank spread of torpedoes sitting between columns failed to hit anything (had no time to calculate, fired a wide spread point-blank). Maybe. I only got "Torpedo missed" messages for 7 of 8 torps, but also no hit or dud message. Oh well, lunch and errands will give me time to think of what to do.

Dark_Swordmaster posted:Is the AI better like they promised? I don't have the patience to join a league. I've only played one game at medium, it seems a bit better, but at that level it still didn't know that if you're 2-1 down with two turns left, building a cage on a 2 yard line is not game equalling position. The RNGgods are still infuriating, so there's that. Nuffle, Nuffle never changes.

I made a silly thing in CMANO about screwing around in North Korea. It's a small little thing with almost no connection with reality whatsoever--the friendly side uses Chinooks, Crusaders, Drakens, and Super Tucanos all at once, for example. Is there any place I can put the scenario up to solicit some feedback and fix some bugs?

Your best bet is the Matrix Games forums or this chatroom (Usually most active during the north american day).

Of course, I don't think you can expect to have good performance on a WWIII type scenario with 4000+ units though. Dunno when the next sale is.

Thanks, it's probably Parallels, I couldn't find any successful accounts of Wineskin. Maybe I'll just buy it to play on my Dual Boot iMac, but I'd really prefer it on my laptop since I rarely get time to just sit down and play for a while (young kids and computer gaming are anathema). It's wishlisted and I'll buy it either next time it's on sale or next time I'm in a gaming funk and have low inner strength (dammit, USD80 is AUD113).

Is there any way to edit a Combat Missions: Black Sea save file? I'm doing the Russian campaign and just realized that the artillery ammo I was given in the first mission has to last the entire way. I really don't want to have to go back and do the first mission again.

Looks like a neat little Battle of the Bulge grog-lite game launched on Steam today. Anyone have any information on it? Judging by the description and screens it's less groggy than UoC but still looks like fun. http://store.steampowered.com/app/365560/

SH4 talk: I recently got into this game after chancing across some LPs of it on Youtube and despite not really knowing what the hell I'm doing I installed Trigger Maru and the Optical Targeting mod based on some recommendations in said videos. My very first patrol started with sailing north out of Manila on Dec 8 and I immediately ran face first into an invasion force right off the west coast of Luzon - likely bound for likely Borneo - led by a shitton of cruisers and a pair of Kongos. I assumed periscope depth and waited until the lead BB was within about 1000yd and with my first volley of the war put four torps into the side of her, one of which was a dud, and one of which hit under the #3 turret and caused a flash fire, causing her to sink within seconds. I then got depth charged for the next four hours. I went on to sink about 40k more tons of merchant shipping in that patrol but they only gave me a Silver Star when I got back. As an aside, the Narwhal is the best class of sub because it gets two deck guns (though alas not the 6" ones ). paging gradenko_2000 and anyone else who knows: I'm considering to switching to the 2m58s rule for map contacts for calculating a target's speed due to some serious difficulties in using the option built into the TDC. Despite sitting completely still and taking stad readings minutes apart I'm still often getting wildly inconsistent speed estimates. A tanker that's going back and forth between 6 and 12 knots, for example. I think I'm just really bad at stad readings, but can anyone suggest some things to try before I give up on it and use the map? Also, are there any good mod recommendations aside from TMO? I've yet to try RFB. (by the way, thanks for posting that method last page - I had been looking for it for a while. I think I now remember you mentioning it in Grey Hunter's SH4 LP some years ago ) TehKeen fucked around with this message at 01:31 on Sep 18, 2015 |
