lol if you think FF14 VR on a ps4 will be anything other than :barf: inducing.

(e: it'll actually work fine but have super low graphics settings, which is okay, but not good for the glamour end-game)

Possibly not - apparently Yoshi-P has mentioned adding VR support to the PS4 version in the past. Who knows, though, I can't really see VR working in this game. Then again, another one of the demos is apparently a Hatsune Miku game, and I really can't see what VR would bring to a rhythm game.

Why wouldn't VR work for this game? VR works really well for 3rd person games, and as a bonus less people get sick in 3rd person than in 1st.

Oh, so it works out well on all levels. That's quite neat!

I have only used a gamepad since starting the game in 2.2 and I'm raiding in savage Alex. It's magical how well the controls are mapped, but it's absolutely something you have to get used to. I'd be totally lost at this point if I switched to kbd+mouse, and I'm sure it'd be the same for players used to that setup if they were handed a gamepad and told to go kill stuff.

Tab targeting as a tank or DPS is questionable but not usually a game breaker (trying to target giant enemies that don't quite fit in your field of view is terrible but that is more of an engine problem). I remain very bad at controller healing though.

I'm much of a keyboard and mouse player, having very little gamepad experience in my life - gamepad controls in massive hotbar MMO was just a novelty that struck me.

Might try one day, have to get a couch and bigger screen before that happens though.

I'm still getting used to the G13 pad and just really have to take the plunge and do a dungeon with it (probably a low level one so I can't mess it up for others too much). The thing is comfortable but I'm still unsure the best way to bind it that works with my playstyle.

I have an enormously newbie question that I can't answer for myself on the wikis and etc.

How do cross class skills work? I am a Gladiator and a Miner but the ones tagged as Cross Class aren't there for me. What do I do?

You have to level those classes to learn those skills before you can crossclass them.

Gladiator and Miner don't share any worthwhile skills. I mean, you can put Triangulate on your bar if you really want I guess.

Hit P to open your powers window. Click down to Additional, and you'll be able to slot in which cross-class skills you've learned that you want to use. There is an upper limit which increases as you level. Once something's selected in there, you can put it on your bar and use it.

I wanted to prospect, that's all. The wiki says you can do! So I can always see if I'm wandering past stuff.

Once you get some more things leveled (so you actually have combat-related cross-class things to use), you'll find yourself running into the cross-class slot limit. At that point you'll probably rather have something that'll actually be useful in combat, than the ability to see nearby gathering nodes.

As a general rule you're better off going full-bore gatherer when you want to gather, and ignoring gatherer nodes the rest of the time (which in turn means you don't even need to see where they are). The ability delay when you swap classes (outside of towns or major camps) discourages you from going "oh hey, I'm walking past a node, I'll just gather a bit then get back to what I was doing".

All gathering locations in this game are fixed, so there's no point. When you wanna, mine go mine. Nodes are also personal, not shared with anyone.

Another thing to know with combat cross class abilities is that they don't carry traits over. So for example, vanilla Blood for Blood increases your damage dealt by 10% and damage taken by 25%. Lancers/Dragoons get a trait to make it increase your damage dealt to 30% and damage taken to 15%. When you cross class that skill you get the vanilla version (10%/25%) instead of the traited one (30%/15%).

I know it doesn't have much to do with what you're trying to do but still a good thing to know for down the road.

Whatever truth to his posts may seep in isn't enough to make him any less horrible. This is the same guy who argued for playable children, and when told people would only use it the option for ccreepy poo poo he trotted out actual child porn laws to show that 'virtual kids have no rights so its fine to put them in sexual situations'.

Not really. They are strangers who are either killing what I am killing or just help me and then we move along. Or in the case of unspoiled nodes they are idiots who aggro a mob and can't get that unspoiled node.

The questing in swtor is actually really group friendly, you can just hop in and help your buddies out with their quests in their phases or roll to see who calls the npc fat. Compare to trying to level the first 15 in ffxiv where you constantly have to ungroup to do the same quest, and sometimes to turn it in.

Literally the only time I had fun with it was back in my WoW days where I jumped in the mid-level battleground queue a bunch of times and found that there was a relatively stable pool of regulars who did the same (on both sides.) We all got to know each other gradually and it was fun playing with friends against familiar foes.

Random acts of pvp sound funner than they usually are. 'Alright this dude helped me kill a dragon time to gank him!' 'huh, he didn't die. And is now teabagging my corpse.'

The only thing to understand is that most of these people do not actually want challenging combat versus other real players. What they want is the ability to be a complete dick to people with no real consequences.

The one good thing about TOR was being the one Light Sith or Dark Republic guy who wins the quest dialogue lottery and changes the course of the entire instance because those routes tend to invariably be more interesting but people get really mad about it.
