Happy Birthday Ernie!

What are people listening to at the moment? I recently discovered both CHVRCHES and Of Monsters and Men who are both great and I'm still not over the new Foals album

Chvrches is rad, haven't heard the other two.

Here's some of the things I more recently put on my mp3 player (because I use a separate mp3 player from my phone because I dunno how to listen to poo poo on my phone and browse the internet at the same time, also the place where I work in the spring has severe phone access restrictions.)

Of Monsters And Men are pretty good but not my usual thing

The new Bring Me the Horizon album dropped recently and while they used to do really lovely (imo) deathcore type stuff they are now basically straight Pop Rock and I think this song qualifies for pop song of the year

The albums this year from Ghost (they call themselves metal but they're really not) and Between the Buried and Me (very proggy metal) are the winners thus far, with August Burns Red & Soilwork not very far behind.

Even if you don't like metal this music video is awesome

I think we can all agree that there are only two musicians worth listening to: Neil Diamond and Barry Manilow.

If you dig Ghost, you should check out The Devil's Blood. They broke up a couple years back, right before their lead guitarist/songwriter/ideas guy committed suicide, but the three records and change that they put out are phenomenal occult rock. I've described them in the past as, like, an evil Fleetwood Mac.

I don't keep up with new music and since having a spotify subscription I don't buy new music anymore, so I just put genre playlists on and it is a lot less hassle.

But I agree with Asiina, I mostly listen to podcasts.

I would probably do this too, but metal is really really diverse with how many drat subgenres there are and generally any attempt at using one of those playlists ends with me getting frustrated at it being like 75% un-listenable noise

I pretty much only listen to house and indie pop at this point. It all sort of blends together eventually.

I can imagine my music listening would be a lot more laborious if I had to filter out trap or edm or anything like that.

Remedy (Alan Wake's developers) were actually responsible for PotF forming in the first place! Marko Saaresto was a good friend of one of the developers and the dev asked him to do a song for Max Payne 2 based on a poem he wrote. Marko got some guys together and made Late Goodbye and they enjoyed playing together enough that they decided to keep doing it.

Lol I like how you list Remedy as the Alan Wake devs, as if that is their most famous work.

Intelligent and bright, they explored a world that was new and strange to them. They liked it, they thought - a whole world just for them! They were dimly aware that a God had created them, was watching them; they called out to him, thanking him in a chittering language, before running off.
