They are all posters from the Giant Bomb thread, a thread so bad they moved it to RGD despite it being primarily about video content. They have driven off 3 main Giant Bomb staff members that wanted to chill and post there.

It was me mentioning that I felt that condemning a culture for not surrendering aspects of their identity because an outside force appropriated them for ill use was insensitive.

The giant bomb thread is a cool and good place where people have fun talking about games and anime without the air of snobbery this thread could be accused of permeating.

Ah yes, thread elitism, truly this will elevate this one above all others.

And Dan/Jeff still post there occasionally. Brad's the one who left because he couldn't recognize Baron's posting gimmick and made a big ugly rant about him being the worst poster he's ever seen in a thread that had the likes of Liquid Penguins, Det_No, Gaspar Lewis, and Kung Fu Fist gently caress at the time.

The problem is that people take the GB thread seriously and all posts therein as ironclad truths by the people making them, rather than mostly tongue-in-cheek stuff. The other problem is that some people post 100% earnestly and are really weird about it.

And then there's Osietra or whatever his name is, who doesn't do anything but post his staff member shipping craziness.

this thread rules actually because it's one of those SA threads where you get the full cross-section of posters and when somebody says mean words you never know if they're just funnin' on a comedy forum, if they're sincerely attempting to make a salient point and maybe just in a bad mood or overreacting, or if they're one of those internet people who has homemade assassin's creed sleeve daggers, a collection of japanese child pornography, and a pile of bones that may or may not be human in their crawlspace

A silly Idle Thumbs joke that just fit given the thread restarted on March 15th(ish), discussion of the Ides of March mutated into "Max Ides", a hitman who only kills in the center of a month.

There was a lot of talk on the latest Idle Thumbs about how big a deal it is that you can play as a "Female Snake" in The Phantom Pain. I feel it's necessary to point out that it's not just a weird one-off feature. You can play as any of the soldiers in your combat unit, some of which happen to be female. I have several different female soldiers to choose from. This was also the case in in Peacewalker but no one thought to mention it there. It should also be noted that while you can play as your combat unit soldiers on main missions their model/voice is just swapped out for Snake in the major cutscenes. The only voiced dialogue your "femsnake" or other soldiers have is the interrogation lines and battle shouts. Still neat though.

I have no idea what's going on with Retronauts, but Soundcloud on my phone has decided that the Super Mario ep is 10 minutes despite showing up as 1:44 earlier.

Ugh, I'm gonna be so much happier once I get iTunes back up and running.

Yeah, that Polygon article they based that discussion off of was really misleading.

I've had this happen in iTunes a few times (and goodness, I've never seen anyone wish for iTunes' interface but I guess Soundcloud is worse?). Deleting and redownloading the episode seemed to work.

Playing as a female character in Metal Gear actually goes back to Portable Ops, meaning it's been part of the series for close to a decade. I realize no one played the PSP games, but it's been funny to see so many people treat some of The Phantom Pain's reused systems/features as entirely new things.

I can't remember if it was jake or not, but his confusion on the quiet attack scene made me pause the podcast, because outside of the description of the scene, almost all the details were wrong or completely opposite.

I get critiquing the stupid stuff like the camera angles and poses, but complaining about something that didn't happen irked me a bit.
