Those doors are gorgeous! I think Eastern Columbia was used in the pilot for Moonlighting, where they climbed outside and up to the clockface. Nice L.A. landmark.

And as for best "arts" I think Beaux Arts should get an honorable mention for architectural confections like this:

Yeah, Twin Cities are pretty decent architecturally. One of my favorites is the Northwestern National Life Building in Minneapolis:

Used to be able to see it out my office window, but new construction has almost completely blocked the view. :(

It is also the tallest educational structure in the western hemisphere and was apparently the site of some good powerwasher porn in 2007 when this happened:

Yeah, I'd say that anywhere else that would be a nice tower/tourist attraction.

But with the Holiday Inn, and the rest of the surrounding buildings it looks like it is in a lovely bland industrial area.

I was talking with an artist friend about Artist Statements once, and he said "Most artists are self-aware enough to know they're total bullshit, but necessary bullshit for marketing yourself. At this point I just consider them part of the piece I'm working on." (paraphrase, but that was the gist)

I've dared him to use the Arty Bollocks Generator, but he hasn't gone for it yet.
