I actually though the animation and storytelling were markedly better than what I've seen of the Marvel shows, which is admittedly very little. I thought the first episode was great and I'm definitely in for more.

I went back a few pages but didn't see any mention... anyone watching Vixen? Aside from the fact that each episode's only 4+ minutes long (lol at CW posting a one minute trailer for ep 4 --- poo poo, that's 25% of the episode! I'll wait), I'm diggin' it. I like the writing and the animation's pretty sweet. Plus yeah, I'm biased, it's nice to see a minority woman getting her own show, even if it's just dinky little webisodes. I'd really like to see her get a full format show.

Yeah, Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't have anything quite as much as "Falcon and Captain America slide across the frame like a loving Powerpoint transition" going on, but it still just feels really cheap to look at.

Is it still being written like an 80's toy commercial though? Because I got up to whatever the last hiatus was before they started showing episodes again, and even though they introduced a seasonal plot arc, it was still obvious that the writers were still in that mindset.

Yeah. Good Guys always win. Bad Guys always lose. There's not really much tension in the fighting, there's not really idea to the fact that The Avengers might not win once. The Black Order got chumped because the Avenger's powers didn't work they same as they did on earth! Crystals in the air, meant Tony could blast harder. Or Hawkeyes ice arrows worked better.

That means it's season 3 already, right? I'm willing to try it out every new season, Wacker took charge sometime while season 2 was being developed, so i'm hoping it's going on an upswing in quality.

They don't seem to care at all, which is hilarious because they are the same over all company that seems to really give a poo poo about their Stars Wars cartoon.

To be fair, the Star Wars cartoons are George's babies; the Marvel cartoons on the other hand don't really have anyone like that behind them to give them a strong creative push for excellence. The writing is solid, and the stories and usage of the breadth of canon aren't all that bad (someone remembers loving Glorian), but it is the dullest most uninspired drek you'd generally grow out of as soon as you stop getting up Saturday mornings to watch them

For what it's worth a group of Flash fans, who all happen to be woc, have been watching it and they like it. They say it's not perfect but there's growing demand to see Mari in live action.

Clearly going for the MLP/Ever After High/whatever-that-one-with-the-Universal-monsters-as-teen-girls-is demo. Which is not a criticism. It's smart. I hope it's successful enough that Disney go "huh... girls will buy Marvel poo poo?" (I don't buy that whole "Perlmutter is the ONLY reason there's not a million Gamora and Black Widow toys on TRU shelves" thing) Also Professor Grodd is pretty awesome. And stylin' with his glasses.

# ? Oct 1, 2015 19:08 |
The animation itself looks stiff in a way that immediately makes me not want to see it, but the concept looks solid and Principle Waller and Professor Grodd are amazing. Speaking of female superhero cartoon that can help show off more of the rad women characters Marvel and DC have, Nickelodeon is going to air a show called Miraculous: The Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, a french show that's got worldwide production (including Disney. It's gonna air on Disney XD in every english-speaking country that's not the U.S.) and it's pretty much what you get when you mix Spider-man with a bit of Sailor Moon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xChtGwI8_-k Few episodes aired on Korea already, and it's looking pretty good, so hopefully people buy the hell out of its products so Disney knows that girls totally do want superheroes.

That show was in development hell for so long and when it finally got made the CG quality was like 1/10th of the proof of concept that had initially been shown. On the plus side it looks less like porn now.

Yeah, it originally had some really good looking 2d animation, but now its doomed to have the same barren environments every 3D show suffers from.
|
# ? Oct 2, 2015 01:52 |
The CG looks way more lively than the generic magical girl anime style from the original short, which was something Toei did because they loved the concept so much and wanted to help them do the pitch video.

There's been rumors for weeks about that. If you scroll that page up a bit there's a picture someone took early in September of WB's office where the advertise all their current shows, and it has a JLA poster.
