I really feel like this is one of the better cartoons we've seen out of Wuercker or about the primary season. I particularly enjoy that Bernie is leading his crowd to the left and Trump leading his to the right, while Clinton and Bush are in the center, barely apart left/right in the composition. 10/10 nailed it, great job.

He said that it is an "increasing phenomenon" that ""babes"" are showing up to these events. That could mean that A) only older ugly women were interested in politics in the past, B) it's strange that these woman are smart enough to pay attention to politics or C) I needed an excuse to draw women that aren't Fiorina.

Lemme help you out. A couple of days ago we had a "Chattanooga Unite" parade and rally to honor the service members slain in the attack a couple of months ago. Samuel L Jackson (a native), along with the mayor and a couple of other important people spoke. Jackson actually made a really great speech, you should look it up on Youtube.

But I digress. One of the speakers was 4-Star Navy Admiral James "Ace" Lyons (seen above). He was there to honor the servicemen, talk about the sacrifice of our military personnel, and otherwise wax philosophical about the nature of violence and war. Instead, he started channeling Fox News, blaming Obama for 6 and a half years of liberal darkness. The officials in charge of the event very sheepishly escorted him off stage in front of a dumb-founded audience. Even the conservatives in the city are disappointed that he tried to turn a rally of unity and common-cause into a senility fueled rant.

:stare:
Man, all they had to do was look at his wikipedia page:

quote:

On 19 February 2010, Andrew Sullivan quoted Lyons at the CPAC conference in Washington as saying:

"You know in the Navy in the late nineteen hundreds, homosexuality was rampant in the United States Navy. It was so bad that mothers would not let their sons enlist in the Navy until the Navy cleaned its act up. … On board ship the Navy found that there are three things unacceptable to good order and discipline and its impact on readiness. You cannot have a thief aboard, you cannot have a drug-user or a drug-pusher and we found out you could not have a homosexual."

On 14 November 2012, Lyons speculated that the death of Ambassador Stevens in Benghazi was the result of a bungled attempt to have Stevens kidnapped by Ansar al-Sharia to facilitate a prisoner exchange resulting in the release of Omar Abdel-Rahman.[4]

On 7 February 2015, Lyons controversially claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood had succeeded in infiltrating every US security agency under the Obama presidency during a National Press Club conference. He also alleged that John Brennan, the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, was a Muslim convert. In addition, Lyons alleged that the Muslim Brotherhood was planning to start up a political party to influence American domestic politics.[5]

General point the first/second panel stirs up in me:

Why is the right so willing to condemn members of their society without a second thought? It really seems like their mantra is: "Do something you shouldnadone? That's a paddlin'"

They seem to be unable to step back and ask "what if this was my son or daughter that is gay/needs the ability to choose if and when to be a parent or prevent the spread of STDs/becomes disillusioned with a questionable war/smokes a little dope/needs affordable health care/has to deal with the consequences of climate change?"

It seems like they always have an ace up their sleeve along the lines of "I HAVE NO SON!!!!!!"

Because its so much easier than trying to understand or fix anything. It also gives the nice power fantasy that you are the hero of the story fighting against whatever is "evil".
