Anyway, something I've noticed a lot of people doing, is using a flash pulse instead of forward observing, which is not the same thing. Flash pulse =/= forward observing, right?

Flash Pulse is a medium range weapon that causes blind, really useful for stopping a harder to kill model from rampaging.

That is correct, flash pulse =/= forward observation. One thing that's important is that in the 8"-24" range band, Flash Pulse is +3 whereas FO is +0. I'd have to run the math given the different burst values, but I think there are times when Flash Pulse may be the better bet (and certainly is in ARO, where both have B1). If you're in a situation where you're likely to have to go FtF against someone and you have orders to burn, it might be useful to Flash Pulse them first and try to blind them, because once they are blind they no longer have LoF and you can Forward Observe them to your heart's content without generating an ARO. It's situationally dependent, but has its uses.

The thing is, I see time and time again people using flash pulse, and then saying that the flashed targets are forward observed for the purposes of using, say a traktor mul's guided barrage. Flash pulse doesn't convey forward observation. I was just wondering whether I was wrong or not. Turns out I wasn't. Thanks.

yea they're very distinct things. Managed to get a game in tonight but was a few beers in, Hungries are drat fun. Managed to catch my buddies infiltrators out lovely with one Preta in particular and just flushing them out, worked really well. I wish I'd brought a form of smoke cover for them in my list though, might've been handy although I managed without it. I did managed to get a clutch use out of a White Noise Zone to cockblock an Intruder which was really, really swell. Let me move up and start holding zones, I need to remember this hacking program more often.

So I just bought an Icestorm box set and am looking at making my N3 PanO army. Primary play will be ITS; my previous experience was in a League game where we played YAMS. I've got everything in the Icestorm Box + the following: 5x Magister Knights 5x Neoterra Bolts 5x Fusiliers 5x Order Sergeants (various configs) 2x Auxilla, 2x auxbot 4x Dronbots, no configurations assembled yet 'cause I was waiting on N3. Probably will magnetize to be able to field multiple remotes 1x all of: Machinist + palbot Trauma Doc + palbot Cutter Guarda de Assaulto + auxbot Hexas Indigo Spec-Ops Kamau Warcor Crusader Brethern Nisses Aquilla Swiss Guard Knight of the Holy Sepulchre Teutonic Knight Joan of Arc (x2 technically since I have the Sculpt from the Angel book) Konstantinos De Fersen That 15 WiP Lt option that Neoterra can take from Aleph + its robot So, I guess the question is, am I missing specialists to do a MO or vanilla army? I have heard good things about Hospitaller Knights doctors and now that Croc Men have a new sculpt they are very tempting.

There's a friendly 200 point tournament tonight at the LGS. I'm planning on bringing my Haqqislam and was hoping I could get some opinions on what type of lists to build. The scenarios we'll be playing are : Beacon land Frontline Annihilation Of those, I've only played Annihilation. What sort of order count should I be aiming for? Are there certain Haqqislam units that really shine at this point level? I really like the Azrail model, so I'm hoping to fit him into my list.

I'm really torn between the Lasiq with Viral Sniper Rifle and the Djanzaban for long range board control. I definitely can't take both.... right?

A 200 points, you'd probably gimp yourself by taking both. For scenarios like Annihilation and Frontline, you can't go wrong with a whole mess of Mechanized Deploying Halqa.

MrSquarepants posted:The TO said its using ITS rules, so I think that means i'm allowed two? I'm still pretty new to ITS. It should be two lists as standard if that's the case. The best bet you have here is the same as I recommend to my other players, sit down and read through the scenarios and figure out what type of objectives you need to accomplish (Frontline for example is holding table space) and set up your lists around that. Beacon Land is your odd mission out here in that it requires something quite different from the other two, so I'd be tempted to craft a list for that mission and then one for the other two. I do recommend Halqa like Ilor said, they're a cool unit, especially for Frontline/Annihilation where you can get up the table and into suppression fire early on.

Your biggest limitation is honestly going to be swc since you only have 4 to work with.

The only problem with the above list is that it is patently obvious who your lieutenant is (i.e. one of the two vanilla Ghulams). But it has baller long-range board control. That said, I'd still go with MOAR HALQA.

[Insert 6 page argument over crits and total reaction bots here.] I was thinking of bringing a 150pt list this upcoming Monday, just so I can play a smaller game if one of our newer players is looking for a game. So I made this, but I'm also considering if maybe I'm being a wee bit too tough on a new player: Haqqislam ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Group 1 7 3 2 GOVAD HMG / Breaker Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 29) SEKBAN Heavy Rocket Launcher, Chain-colt / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) HUNZAKUT (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (18) GHULAM Doctor Plus (MediKit) Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (16) NASMAT Electric Pulse. (3) NAFFATÛN Rifle + Heavy Flamethrower / Pistol, Knife. (12) MUTTAWI'AH Chain Rifle, E/Marat, Jammer / Pistol, Knife. (5) MUTTAWI'AH Chain Rifle, E/Marat, Jammer / Pistol, Knife. (5) 3 SWC | 150 Points Open with Army 5 On the one hand, it's got a shitload of orders and some real good stuff like Mutts. On the other, I'm fielding Sekban and no AD/TO/Impersonation. Is the Sekban some sort of half hearted attempt at going "look guys it's a crap unit to play vs the newbie! "? Tbh the bit I find might be a bit hard on a new player is the amount of cheap large templates you're packing. The Govads gonna Govad, but unless you literally charge your Naffatun into longer range AROs I think they'll be the brutal part, you know? I don't think AD is too brutal vs newer players providing you're not as punishing with it but use it more to showcase what they can do. That's what I've done historically for newer players but I've always treated them as coaching games. I'm playing a game tomorrow morning as well with a bit of a poo poo list but I want to try it to try a few things: Combined Army ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Group 1 9 1 2 CHARONTID Lieutenant Hacker (Hacking Device Plus) Plasma Rifle, Nanopulser / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 73) MAAKREP TRACKER HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 33) SPECULO KILLER Boarding Shotgun, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Monofilament CCW, Knife. (1 | 34) UNIDRON (Forward Observer) Plasma Carbine / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (15) UNIDRON (Forward Observer) Plasma Carbine / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (15) UNIDRON Missile Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 20) DĀTURAZI Chain Rifle, Grenades, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (14) M-DRONE Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (17) MED-TECH OBSIDON MEDCHANOID Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (23) SLAVE DRONE Electric Pulse. (3) PRETA Chain Rifle / AP CCW. (7) Group 2 2 2 2 Q-DRONE HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 26) IKADRON (Baggage, Repeater) 2 Light Flamethrowers, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9) PRETA Chain Rifle / AP CCW. (7) GAKI AP CCW. (4) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open with Army 5 Not entirely convinced on Ser Gaki but we'll see, I did originally have a Plasma Sniper in there for the Unidron but opted to try a single Gaki. I also feel really uncomfortable not running any AD or Infiltration, I mean I've got the Speculo but I'm used to running more than that these days.
