I'm gonna be completely off subject and jsut compare the Persona 1 soundtrack to the Twin Peaks soundtrack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4sYwcojtUk vs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7psOw0ilJl4 The music isn't the same, but I do feel that they have a really similar "atmosphere" that isn't found in the other Persona games.

One of the reasons I hated the PSP version is because it gutted the whole soundtrack and replaced it with modernized vocal poo poo. Terrible thing to do to a game which doesn't have much going for it except for the atmosphere.

While I liked the new soudntrack when first playing the remake, in retrospect it's really not as good as the original. Still, Lone Prayer! Oh, an old interview on Persona 1 was recently translated, 19 years after the fact: http://atlusatlas.tumblr.com/post/111724547998/here-we-are-at-last-about-two-months-in-the It confirms that the Velvet Room was directly inspired by Twin Peaks and that the devs were fans of Twin Peaks, among many other interesting revelations.

Twin Peaks was hugely popular in Japan (possibly even more so than in the West) so it's not really that surprising that Persona took some inspiration from it.

I keep watching the P5 trailer and it's really awesome how the in-game engine is so good looking and it makes me want another Catherine game too or a vita port of Catherine. I also wish they'd get rid of the anime scenes and just use the in-game engine, but the characters models look so good.
