Ah man, just started crying at work. This pic reminds me so much of a pic of my cat Sari who passed away in 2012. Well, minus the whole real hedgehog/guinea pig beanie baby, of course...

RIP, Sari

Hey guys, I turned 30 today. Can I get some adorable old animals?

This is Hermanni. He's 13, which I hear is pretty respectable in wabbit years (the vet said he's the oldest bunny she's ever seen, and perfectly healthy too!)

He loves herding cats so much that they need a lot of high places to escape his attentions to. He's practicing climbing too, now.

This is his favourite target, Moppi. He's ~15. At first the cats tried to shoo or scare the ferocious bunny off, but he's a stubborn old bugger and they quickly realized it just doesn't work.

This is Tiitsa. He was the eldest of the bunch until he passed last year. Nobody was sure about his age but he was at least 20-25, probably a bunch more. He was a grumpy old fella, and made his displeares known - loudly.

The cat shelter just got a single young kitten named Ralph, and they're trying to socialize him with other cats a bit so he will be ready to be adopted in the future.

In the meantime, Ralph has taken to hanging out with a different fuzzy friend:

Did you ever wonder where the Romans got bread from? It wasn't from Waitrose!
No picture, because the little bastard got away from me, but this afternoon I relocated that most tenacious of nature's creatures, the Wing Mirror Spider.

After a poo poo first day back to lecturing (lecturing was fine; I love freshmen classes in first semester, but if everything else that could go wrong, went wrong, it did), I realised that while dealing with the usual afternoon arseholes on the motorway that I had a wing-mirror spider. He held on all the way back to the house despite the best efforts of the 'Oh my God, is this a motorway, Ma? Better do 40 mph so that people get trapped behind me with cars bearing down on them at 80 and 90!' chunderfucks and the school run dickheads near my estate trying to play dodge'em cars with me against their Audis and oval office Carriers as they navigated the mysteries of the local roundabout.

So as his reward he now lives in the garden in a nice rose bush with the rest of the spider buddies who hang out there.

My car is bright orange, and it attracts all kinds of bugs that normally hang out on or around flowers. Accordingly, it also attracts things that hunt them. Last summer I had a jumping spider set up shop in my left side mirror. He commuted with me every day for weeks until one day he jumped onto me as I was getting out of my car.

I relocated him to the untamed jungle that is my back yard, where, as far as I know, he lived out the rest of his days and banged all the cute spider chicks.

I don't have pics, but he was one of these:

Birds are light and fluffy, so generally they're pretty floaty if they get a lot of air trapped in their feathers.

Those are jesses, which are tiny leather straps you put on the bird's legs to tether/control it. It's a bit like a dog collar, but for birds.

That duck better watch it's spacing near that capy.

We used to have neighborhood ducks, there were four of them. They'd just waddle up and down the street while it was raining. Two of them must of nested near the side of my house because they'd bum rush me at my garage door every other morning or so. It was pretty sweet.
