A lot of anti-Hispanic racism in the US, for example, boils down to economic concerns ("dem darned immigrants takin are jobs") or perception of differing work ethics ("those lazy shiftless Mexicans dont understand how to do real work like a real American"). Of course, crime has become a common topic against Hispanics as well, but I suspect that's a result of the racism rather than a cause of it.

What is identity politics
|
# ? Sep 23, 2015 16:01 |

I think identity politics is when you kick gays, blacks, and women out of your organization and then accuse them of betraying the cause when they start their own
|
# ? Sep 23, 2015 19:55 |
|
And try to convince them that the only way to achieve their goals is to fight for your goals instead and then poof everything becomes paradise because of it.

So identity politics kicked out all these people who now have to start the revolution on their own which is harder, thus successfully preventing class revolution. I guess the OP was right.

And so white people would assuage their hurt feelings by asserting that their work was more Creative and of a Higher Quality. It's funny that identity politics has been pushing East Asians and Arabs and Hispanics towards the Democrats voting bloc. Good job white people. Also who still remembers when Arabs were a Model Minority?

Let`s say all the ethnic, religious and sexual minorities get 100% of what they want and never tries to do more then that. Would that be so bad, their life is better and Capitalism becomes more stable because of it. Meanwhile the workers would never have suceeded anyway. So it`s a net gain for everyone no matter how you spin it.

Powercrazy posted:No, the goal is to trick useful idiots like yourself into supporting economically regressive policies by casting people that are superficially different from yourself as your enemy. Are you aware that most of the people in this thread support roughly the same economic policies as you. People who would vote for Hilary Clinton aren't doing it solely because she's a woman, even if they're feminists and cite that as one of the reasons. They are also at best ambivalent about her being a neoliberal. It's also not very hard to convince such people about class war, unless they were very committed to liberalism in the first place, in which case their level of interest in "identity politics" was never the real problem. It's significantly harder to convert people if you sneer at them about problems that they have faced and know are real, though. You could also argue that the bourgeoisie is only superficially different from the proletariat on an individual level. We're all like, human, man. Both Marxist thought and work in "identity politics" stresses that "the bourgeoisie", "whiteness" and the rest refer to systems and not the individuals that comprise them. Retards who don't understand this are common on the left as well as in "identity politics". There's literally no difference between someone saying "kill all men" and "ACAB", they are inflammatory phrases that deliberately blur the lines demarcated in the denser literature for rhetorical effect.

Close; the idea of identity politics was designed to prevent revolution. Remember, who is bitching about identity politics? White dudes who don't directly benefit from it. It's no coincidence that poor whites are most likely to vote Republican (about evenly divided, versus 80+% Dem for all others).
