Apologies for FarCry chat in advance.Hollenhammer posted:Well actually...... He's mentioning the respawning checkpoints, and all I can see in this is "Checkpoint guards now have a 60% chance to chase you after passing through, as opposed to 90%-100% in vanilla.", together with a lot of changes that would make the rest of the game even more annoying to play, at least for me. What am I missing?

While I haven't played it personally (I can't stand to play any more far cry 2), it is the mod constantly cited as "fixing" the game and making it an actually good game. It looks like it makes the game harder and people say that the checkpoints are something you can deal with now quote:To combat the repetition: its takes you significantly longer before you need to get Malaria pills, and enemies are alot less likely to chase you if you drive past their checkpoint or when they see you from afar. From a review on the page and further reading for you http://steamcommunity.com/app/19900/discussions/0/558748822266554928/ edit: to address a post below without further bumping the thread:- You can sort of charge through checkpoints on the first map, sure. They will always pursue you and catch up, but they only have light MG's. On the second map, however, all the technicals have .50Cal MGs that will shut your car down almost instantly (remember how you have to get out to wrench the front of the car to fix it?) and you are forced to get out (and get wrecked as you get out) to deal with the situation. The first checkpoint and you've used half your ammo and all your syrettes. It is here I finally gave up on the grind Hollenhammer fucked around with this message at 12:19 on Sep 24, 2015 |

Never got the hate for FC2 checkpoints. You just drive through them at top speed and ignore them, only getting out if you need to scavenge up some ammo/health. Anyway, Mad Max. Remember that mooted black and white silent version of Fury Road George Miller wanted to put on the BluRay? It never happened. Someone else made it anyway, it's up on Vimeo until WB get around to taking it down. Embed link on this page: http://io9.com/mad-max-black-chrome-is-fury-road-the-way-george-mil-1732519536 Just finished watching it. Wouldn't say it's better, as there are several scenes built around dialogue, and not enough music in some places so the sound effect track is kept in (a good choice). It's not worse either. It's enjoyably different and absolutely worth setting aside time for another viewing. Just, make it quick, it won't be online for long.

I swear I'm not some doofus who doesn't know how to play games, but man I probably ran that loving gastown race over 30 times using different car configurations etc. before I finally got him. What was so easy for everyone else became a horrible ordeal that basically resulted in putting the game down for several days. What was happening to me was after a bit of damage the handling on the car would degrade to the point where I could not stop putting it into the wall and little outcroppings that are all over the place. Add to that the buggies were spinning me out and banging me all to hell constantly. When I fired the last thunderpoon that destroyed his car, I was already on fire and probably one more bump from one of the enemy buggies would have finished me off. Anyway, the rest of the game is shaping up to be pretty cool.

orcane posted:Apologies for FarCry chat in advance. I've played with this mod a lot and it really makes the checkpoints less obnoxious. If I remember correctly they will still eventually respawn, however they don't do it as quickly (and are less likely to chase after you if you blast through) which keeps them from getting too annoying. It's no longer a place where you are guaranteed to get vehicles that are magically faster than you chasing you to the ends of the earth every single time they get a whiff of you.

Almost done - purposefully putting off the last fight to finish some of the piddly stuff - and while i love it I figured out what's missing from this game about building faster and faster cars: A speedometer. How did that not make it into the game? How do we know that the bantam V8 is faster than the massive V6? I can't believe they didn't make some achievements around hitting faster and faster speeds, by balancing power and weight in your magnum opus builds. Also, they should've included at least one (preferably more) slots where you could save your favorite builds. I dunno, seems like a huge oversight.

I do prefer the FC3/FC4 approach of letting you clear outposts for good. I wouldn't have minded the attacks on the FC4 outposts if they weren't as frequent and only happened right on leaving the safehouse. But the FC2 outposts really aren't that big of a deal, if you planned your route you could go from a bus stop or safehouse to a mission marker without having to cross more than one. I think it fit the style of game more anyway, things were more organic than neat and game like. I.e. having to use a paper map instead of minimap, not radar for stealth, etc.

Pause, go to Autosaves, save it in slot 2 and slot 1 just to be safe, so you have 2 identical saves in the first 2 slots. Quit to the main menu, go to New Game, start a new game in slot 1. Once you get to the point where you can customize Max, you should be able to get the jacket and shotgun.

Does the original shotgun seem weaker than the four barrel option to anyone else? That thing popped tires and doors all the time, but the original gun despite having a full damage bar in the menu seems really weak.

I'm not sure if I've hit a bug or something but I can't lower the threat in Jeet's territory to zero despite completing all the camps, minefields, convoys, snipers and scarecrows on my map. I got the survey project in the stronghold so my map should be complete right? I can't work out what I'm missing.

The survey projects only reveal scavenging locations, I think. I cleared all threat in Jeet's territory yesterday, so it's definitely not bugged as a rule. If you're positive that all of the sub-territories no longer have any remaining scarecrows etc. I'm not sure what's going on, though.

If you hold the cursor over individual named sub-territories on the map it shows a checklist of what's been completed and not been completed. My guess is you missed a minefield somewhere. There's a guide on steam that has screenshots of all the locations. e: destroying convoys lowers threat levels, just in case that wasn't known foozwak fucked around with this message at 00:28 on Sep 27, 2015 |

Finished the story missions tonight. Those last couple were pretty great, and I wish there had been more convoy battles against large stuff like the Land Mover and its escorts Anything involving the Underdune was cool - glad they thought about including what is basically a dungeon for the car.

Last patch hosed up the game on xbox one. If anybody is stuck at "verifying save files" do a hard reset of the xbox. (Turn it off and pull out the power cable for 1 minute.) That helped me. However the patch also hosed up my save, and now im set back about 2 or 3 hours. Wtf.

Thanks, I was missing a couple of minefields. I've now reduced Jeet's threat to zero, but I've not noticed any difference in the number of enemy car encounters so I'm not sure what people are complaining about. I've got plenty of upgrades now and there are still enemy cars to chase down.

Just spent another weekend playing this awesome game. Does anybody else put the Fury Road soundtrack on and then go after convoys? At the moment I'm alt-tabbing out to youtube and back but if there's a better way I'm all ears. Mostly I've just been taking out all the guard cars and actually leaving the leader so that they respawn back later for more vehicle chase mayhem. Also, ripping off wheels with the harpoon and then stopping to get out and fist fight is awesome. It's post apocalyptic road rage.
