I use e4e on big pulls in dungeons because it makes healing quite a bit easier. I often forget to use it anywhere else. I also don't do savage though, I guess it's more useful there.

Speaking as a WHM Eye for an Eye is a good ability to throw on when the tank does big pulls, all those hits add up and it leads to me needing to heal less and as such I can throw out more Aeros and Stone IIIs.

Also the debuff it applies stacks with pretty much every other damage down debuff, including Storm's Path, Reprisal, and Disable.

I just really wish E4E would get a consistency pass. It's powerful, but I would much rather have a version that reliably applied, even if it was nerfed in some other way (Apoc debuff? lower duration?). RNG on a healer defensive ability is never going to be particularly interesting, even if the power level is high enough for it to be good.

Assuming that enemies follow the same GCD as players, they get 12 hits in on the tank during Eye for an Eye's duration. Since the effect kicks in at 20% odds, statistically it's very likely to trigger. Even higher if you take Auto-Attacks into account.

Yeah, it almost always triggers at least once. But it never triggers when you really need it, much like making something at 99% HQ chance :v:

Yeah - it's not that it doesn't proc (in fact, it almost always refreshes itself if you're chaining E4E), but just taking 5-15 seconds to actually get rolling is kind of lovely for a defensive ability.

I think virus, path, DK/delirium, reprisal and rage of halone are all the different damage downs you can use. RoH only reduces physical damage and DK/delirium magic damage. Virus/DK/delirium/RoH all work by lowering mainstats while reprisal and storm's path just reduce damage directly. So with everything up you'd have a 20% reduction in mainstats across the board and then a 20% reduction in damage.

Depends on the race, some of them have larger visual differences between them than others which is important for playing pretty princess dressup. So obviously it matters very muc!

Having E4E is better than not having E4E, but because it's RNG proc based it's only really good for big trash pulls, you can't reliably use it to help with tankbusters and the like, and there's a non-zero chance that it will just not proc on a given mob at all. So while it's useful (since using it has zero opportunity cost), it's not that good. I would rank it very slightly lower than apocatastasis.

There are racial stat differences. However, the difference between a race with the highest specific stat and the lowest is about 7 points. In a game where stats have reached the hundreds.

That has the misfortune of being attached to a DPS class that doesn't really have good zero cast time moves that aren't also RNG based.

Once you reach the end, the stat difference between "best" and "worst" for your particular class amount to far less than a single percent (and are minimal even by level 30 which is where the training wheels start to come off), which means the difference is purely cosmetic. Choose based on looks, and run through the character creation options for each clan - some clans get options that others don't (some have muscle sliders, one variety of Lala doesn't have visible pupils, some only get certain hair/skin colors, etc)

When people say the true endgame is pretty princess dressup, they aren't really joking. I never cared at all about the paper doll and diva-management type of games, but FFXIV changed all that. The art direction is simply phenomenal. Take your time and ignore that the quests even exist, just wander around the towns once you get settled, and pay attention to the set backgrounds.

Look at the shelves in that corner over there, there's actually STUFF ON THE SHELVES. It's not just some 5-polygon rectangle with a bookshelf texture, there are boxes and jars and even modeled handles on the tiny little drawers. Check out the archery guild, and actually look at that giant ceremonial bow hanging on the wall - you can see how the individual pieces of wood were formed to put it all together. The tables on the goldsmith guild? Little piles of silver solder next to where the background craftsmen are working. The NPCs turn their head to you to see if you're doing anything interesting, pieces of clothing (even tights) have wrinkles and seams at the appropriate places, leather and burlap and velvet and every other kind of material have actual textures that each look different in the lighting, metal pants make a slight chainlinky jangly noise as you walk, over on the side table of a random room that you probably never look at has a loving dish with a candle in the center that is filled with a half inch of oil that ripples and refracts the room. If you're out in the rain, your clothing will actually get noticeably wet and have its color/texture/reflectiveness slightly altered. If you're in a windy area, your hair and loose parts of your clothes will blow. When you're out in the desert, shadows cast by mountains and clouds actually loving move with the sun.

it actually mattered at 50 way back in the day of like 2.0 because the level 50/55 gear might only have 12-15 mainstat on your big pieces like chest and legs so 30 points was worth basically two pieces of gear

now it's mostly a curiosity rather than a combat strategy

If you want to mitigate magic damage, you can stack Storm's Path, Reprisal, Disable, and Rend Mind with an E4E proc. Assuming they stack multiplicatively, that's 62% of normal damage. Add a Sacred Soil for 56%. Then there's also Virus and Dragon Kick/Delirium which would reduce the target's INT to 76% of normal, but who knows how exactly that affects damage. Keep in mind that setting all this up would take a huge amount of coordination and luck.

Hymns are very affordable these days. You could greed on the Valerian stuff from the expert roulette dungeons and pick a good amount of them up from the GC quartermaster daily. There are days where I'm literally the only person casting lots on the stuff. At 920 seals per item, it's really easy to bounce between Scholar and Summoner now. I spend my seals on a decent stockpile of durability draughts, keeping a stack of cordials and ventures for 4 retainers and still have a hard time keeping under cap every day.

God I can't wait for the new ranks.

And then if you're in PvP, you can stick a DRG's Skewer on top of that for another 20% INT down.
