SA has decreased revenue by 90% in the past year, and new registrations are estimated at 5,000 per year and decreasing. How would BFC save the forums? This is the most educated forum of stockbrokers, IT Professionals, self employed wunderkinds, and consultants, so if anyone can come up with a plan, we can! I'll get everyone started: work with the app developers to charge $9.99 per mobile app. Create a marketing and recruiting blitz on Reddit's Personal Finance section to move all the 20 year old college students to here so they can learn from 30 year old graduate students about money.

It is basically impossible for a forum (or even a full-fledged social media site) to make a profit. Even Reddit is losing money and they've got venture capitalist money out the wazoo.

Step 3: Create underground word-of-mouth network with public highschools/colleges across the nation. Step 4: Shut it down once gov't fatheads (politicians wearing suits) start grandstanding and complaining (ideally 3-4 years after inception). Step 5: Repeat cycle in 10-15 years using hologram technology or whatever. You're welcome. Also, do they have Chaturbate for the iPhone yet? That might pose a problem.

We really need to work on Lowtax's personal finances first. If you've seen the car parked outside the SA office you'll understand. Other than that trying to revive forums when most of the people on the internet are barely literate is a foolish task.

First, I'd outsource GBS to India as it's a case where Quantity > Quality actually works. Next, to cut our electrical expenses, we have tasked the good netizens of Science, Academics and Languages to develop a new source of energy for the servers. So far, our best bets are composting shitposts and using everyone who argues with Nintendo Kid as a triboelectric generator. To save on hosting costs, we'll rehost SA through the Private Game Servers subforum. If those servers could run pre-Microsoft Minecraft no problem, I'm sure it can handle whatever's left of Radium's code. Last but not least, we will sell organic honey harvested from our community's lucrative investment in beecocks.

Claim the finances of the forum are broken, make up a bunch of numbers to justify begging for ~$100k in donations from goons every year. Have a donation drive with maybe some crappy schwag / custom avatars. Create a donation counter system that cooks the books and actually collects $125/150k.

Focus forums on Let's Play. Give top LPers their own subforums. Accept donations that are split between the forums and the LPers. Maybe also do a Patreon thing where people can pay to get early episodes of their favorite LPs. Have everything crumble as LPers turn into money-hungry drama queens.Dead Pressed posted:Move from absolute purchases of accounts to a a dollar a month subscription model.

SA used to sell mugs and hats and things and stopped doing that, but that's probably the best revenue model apart from making the main forums good again. Other ideas: - kidnap ThreeOlives and hold him for ransom - get written into the will of that old rich fyad guy who had a pool, what was his name? - remake Helldump, make it a public forum, and let people pay to delete threads about themselves (edit: and other people can bid against them to keep the threads open) moana fucked around with this message at 00:55 on Sep 28, 2015 |

Is SA in need of fixing? Sites come and sites go, 4chan got sold, Reddit is a big flaming mess and it is difficult to see an alternative around the corner. 90% in revenue cut, where is that number coming from? Where was the revenue coming from in the first place? I am not up to date on the current SA business model, but seems that it was not sustainable in the end. Two suggestions I have seen that should work to increase revenue: - Monthly / yearly subscription model - Donations drive (yearly?) Things to cut cost: - stop paying developers (obviously done already) - Lowtax gets another source of income - Turn of the servers Keep in mind that stopping the site when the business model is no longer valid, is always a option.

Barring the best option of liquidate all assets: Make SA only available via a downloadable UI which turns your CPU into a bitcoin mining/cloud computing operation while idle. Include a EULA stating all users are now contractors and are responsible as such. Sit back and collect that sweet sweet VC by stating how 'disruptive' and 'visionary' the HSLD business model is. Use a fraction of rich peoples money to keep any challenges to your system tied up in court. Then liquidate all assets.
