Wow that Medusa is pretty lucky. I've never got that nice of a skin even from opening cases. Hell I got a stat trak FAMAS z survivor from the new cases and felt like I won the lottery.

According to a thing I read once, rank in CSGO is affected on a round by round basis, where each side has a probability of winning the round based on rankings. So if you win 16 rounds and your team is 60% favored to win against the 40% team that wins 14 rounds, you can still end up losing points overall? And if the other team has a bot you lose more points for losing a 4v5.

Knowing that my rank is taking a hit every time I sacrifice a round for the good of the match kinda sucks. V: i wish they would just do the dota thing with an 'unranked' mm that works off an invisible mmr, and then a ranked one that just has a simple number that goes up or down after every match. So yeah you if you can mvp a few rounds every match you still can rank up even if you do nothing but lose. I read something written by valve about the whole thing a few months ago but I cannot locate it anywhere

absolutely noone knows how the rank works because valve does not want people knowing so all info on the net is based on hear say and community experiments that show some trends but no conclusive proof so when someone tells you how the ranking system works dont listen to them except me cause i know its determined by how many shots you make after you already killed the enemy less shots = higher rank

As close to FN as possible. it depends on how nice you want it, st karam dopplers are anywhere between 460 and 3500 on opskins, with the high end being ruby/sapphire it's hard to judge the price of dopplers because of the different phases they come in

Just so I know I'm not taking crazy pills: All of these cases and weapon drops and stuff are purely cosmetic, right? As in, if I don't care about cosmetics, I can/should just immediately sell 'em, right? I mean, I might not because I like pretties (albeit not enough to pay money for them) but I just want to be reassured that I have this right.

It is very likely that the ranking system works on a per round basis, but it's too difficult to say whether individual performance is relevant. I feel like it isn't. You can generally mark a trend that you'll rank up in fewer games if you string together wins with big round differences. It's also a clue that the surrender system saves your exact scoreline. You can surrender while ahead in rounds and it counts as a win. It would also explain why you can't vote to surrender without a teammate abandoning, and a kicked teammate doesn't count, because it opens the door to abuse. You could just surrender every game where you get a few rounds lead and boost yourself like that relatively easily. Getting 12-3 as CT nuke and then surrendering etc.
