I'm waiting for my dad to finish sending me all the photos from yesterday's little outing to some backwater poo poo hole kinda nearish Monterey, CA.

This guy was apparently detuned to a mere 900 hp, as opposed to the ~1500 in race trim. The very nerve.

Apparently all 6 of the Gulf livery 917s were present at the same place at the same event. I can't imagine that happens often.

Only problem is there is zero test time behind all the new changes and aero package. Hopefully they can at least get the car to run, unlike team america last year.

I know I keep quoting all your Time Attack pictures but that thing is amazing as are most time attack cars. I'm curious if the remaining frame/body is beefed up to deal with the addition of all the downforce or if the roll cage ends up taking all of it.

Ideally you are cutting out everything you don't need (within the rules), and then adding any extra things you do. Like good mounts for the wings.

So like on the front there you can see the cage is tied into the strut towers to reinforce those parts. A cage, especially when it's well done and intergrated into other parts of the cars is going to make the chassis stronger and stiffer. The things I worry about are suspension components. You start putting that kind of load on things and wheel bearings don't last very long, ball joints and tie rod ends can fail, and then you have all sorts of roll center adjuster and geometry corrections that might not be stronger or as well designed as oem. We ripped a ball joint extender out of the upright at high speed and got fairly lucky.
