If the entirety of the comic book industry is composed of writers and editors who want to do rape storylines, maybe there should be no writers or editors. E: drat, top of the page. Quick, don't fail me, GIS!

Sure, have you not heard the story about the genesis of Identity Crisis being an editor at DC (I've heard it was actually a female editor, but I don't know for a fact) saying, "We need a rape!"? Likewise, the story about the pages in question arriving at the office and another editor cheerfully announcing, "The rape pages are in!"

I had not heard this and also upon reviewing the synopsis of Identity Crisis I conclude there is pretty much nothing in it that is not terrible but I may be mistaken.

Can't find a primary source, but there's a hundred versions of the same story: quote:Fan backlash was also helped by former DC assistant editor Valerie D'Orazio coming forward and revealing that the genesis of the entire project came from Editor in Chief Dan Didio pronouncing "We need a rape".

Sadly, I can believe that given how badly every attempt DC makes to be "dark and gritty" or do shades-of-grey morality has been handled.

You mean like when Alan Moore called the DC Editors about maiming Barbara Gordon during The Killing Joke and they told him to "Cripple the bitch!"?

Ghostbusters #7. The team is facing this powerful entity that possesses people and devours their souls. They're fighting it at a carnival and it possesses Peter. Not only does that mean the team's down by one against a dangerous threat, but they're reluctant to harm Peter. As the battle rages on, this conversation takes place. He makes a break for it and gets snagged immediately.

Why's Hawkeye an Avenger? Later in the same issue... Because that's why. (Secret Avengers #14)

My brain was able to read it in Bill Murray's voice, but it would have been even better if they were allowed to make his character look like him.
