I feel like CoC would be much more enjoyable if the omniscient death helicopters didn't turn hostile to you the second a military member sees you, weren't omniscient, or just didn't exist at all. It's really frustrating in the Cordon where there are occasionally snipers positioned on the bridge who can spot you from really far away, at which point the helicopter beelines directly for your rear end to destroy all fun.

Was pretty satisfying taking those loving things out in one segment in Lost Alpha.

Choppers used to follow you for the entire level but Alundaio added a few conditions in which they would forget about you. First one is sleeping somewhere safe, second is just hiding for a while, third is an emission will cause it to fly off, and there's probably a few more I can't remember. Would people be interested in a sort of modders guide to COC? Mainly talking about the new tools modders can use compared to COP

Definitely ^^ I made a little custom mod for CoP years sho that removed the ability of the Svarog (i think - the best detector anyway) to show anomalies as it made them too trivial. It still revealed the rarest artefacts so you still wanted it. Probably going to remake it for CoC since iirc it was a trivial 30 second .xml edit. I'll share it here if anybody else is interested.

I got the 80% durability vendor fix working, which owns. I just wish more artifacts popped up in the wild and not just in the shaded anomalous areas. Also I went to the Oasis and nothing was there I did mange to find a compass chilling on a shelf in a mine tunnel on the north side of the Red Forest though! Also needs way more enemy spawns. Once I clear an area I don't really have to worry about anything except the odd mutant or blundering into an anomaly.

I'm curious about how easy texture editing is, if I wanted to introduce some variety in the outfits. Please tell me it's easier than modding games from other Russian devs, and I won't need some filetype converter for an obsolete version of Photoshop and a hex editor.

Hex editor may be necessary depending on how complex you want to go. The SDK allows you to assign textures to objects without hex editing, though, if you wish. As for actually editing textures, all you need is the Nvidia DDS tools. I'm using CS6 and it works fine.

Which is funny and all but I can see how it might mess with things.

MariusLecter posted:AI seem to just wander into anomalies willy nilly with no regard to their own safety. Then others go to loot them or aid them, and so on and so on. There is a mod called "Stalkers are not blind mod (Anomaly evasion)", also incorporated into stuff like Zone Reclamation Project... and it has a thing where stalkers have a certain chance of noticing anomalies , and higher ranks of stalkers (veterans, masters etc) are less likely to wonder into them. Rather than making stalkers always avoid anomalies or be immune to them, would make more sense to use that logic. That way someone walking into an anomaly would be a rare occurrence, rather than you getting a line of victims blundering in. http://z4.invisionfree.com/STALKERRE/index.php?s=85d6d9fbb6a4e9ca82150b754e967609&act=Attach&type=post&id=2561833 The default values mean it is extremely unlikely anyone will ever wonder into one, though, like 90% chance a novice will notice an anomaly. I actually tweaked it in the past so that inexperienced stalkers only had a 50% chance of noticing anomalies, but that's somewhere on my old computer. Might see if I can dig it out.

I am kicking myself for not noticing nimble in the rookie village. Now I have my favorite "Storm". The option messes up combat in general as currently implemented, so it's being removed.

Or a dude who co-exists peacefully with poltergeists and they gang up on you because you will not gently caress Off. A Monolith shrine. A secret merc base. A place that resembles that heavy hitter room in John Wick - you need to be This Badass to get in. A creature hunter faction with specialized weapons. Bill the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s anomaly/artifact collection. A military S.T.A.L.K.E.R. branch. Some other bunch of heavy hitters that think maybe Strelok and his gang are hogging the limelight. Rich dickheads with equipment and zero smarts. A fabled weaponsmith/armourer who gussies up your weapons or armour with artifacts (Could also custom electronics with artifacts, Iunno). A guy who shows movies from around the world made about the Zone. A religious zealot who hires people to drag corpses back to his so he can bury them properly. A non-zombied version of Monolith. Some crazy bastard who eats artifacts. Some crazy bastard who can adjust the Zone (spawn anomalies). A dude married to a burer. A pseudogiant who wants to escape the Zone and become the world's greatest Sumo wrestler. A bloodsucker eye-balling a career in porn. Bandits who are not fundamentally idiots. Some mad gently caress who thinks projectile gunpowder weapons are for pussies. Secretly Russian-funded ex-Spetnaz who line the pockets of oligarchs with their line in rare artifacts. Documentarians turned feral. The guy who makes the sausages. An artifact cook/breeder. An outpost of DeBeers (Or however you spell it) who use gravity anomalies to make cheap but desired Zone gems. A company trying to cachet up their energy drink/booze. Kanye West insists on making a music video beside the Wish Granter. Not gonna lie, I'd love if any or all of these were implementable.
