I'm mainly interested in Kizu not for the story (since the series has kept improving over time) but more that Shinbo owns and I wanna see what he'll do with a monogatari arc on a movie budget

And Kizumonogatari will be winning Oscars.

I heard that Kizumonogatari has a bunch of characters who aren't in the rest or only cameo in later arcs (like Episode) so even if the overall arc and its results are obvious, I still know basically poo poo all about it and am very interested in the movie which I hope is announced for release when that countdown ends.

A good reason not to watch something because of timeline order is that timelines are dumb, and watching in production order means you see the natural progression over time of the staff and crew as they become more entrenched with the world and characters.
