Sakamoto did stellar work on Dragon Quarter and it's a shame he's not asked to do more of that kind of music rather than the FFTish stuff people usually want. And I'm saying this as a big FFT fan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xzf_Ey5th8

I was playing FF13-2 for a bit when the PC version went on sale and... I do not like it much. It runs really choppy which is weird because I can play Witcher 3 fine and MGS5 flawlessly. Also, I have Witcher 3 and MGS5, which are both better games. I'll probably never finish it or pick up LR.

It's just that the consoles cap the framerate at 30, while PC has the option for higher framerates but that also means greater instability.

fronz posted:Yeah o remember but what's wrong with the song? It sounds like it came out of some second rate reality show or a low budget action flick, what with that annoying motif that runs through the entire song. Its sparse, has pauses in all the wrong areas and most of all makes it hard(er) to take anything on screen seriously. I listen to it and I think of a deadpan voiceover describing how if John Jim Bob the truck driver does not economize his fuel usage he will run out of fuel and be stranded in the middle of nowhere, then a smash cut to the fuel gauge hovering over E. I am mad about a song in a game i dont like very much. Rigged Death Trap fucked around with this message at 17:33 on Oct 4, 2015 |

I'm a bit late on this now, but... you can't listen to something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr-60Rnsp0A And say that Shimomura's been putting out boring/samey stuff lately. The Kingdom Hearts boss fight themes do all sound the same (with so much high-speed violin) but I'm pretty sure that's just how Nomura wants them to be. Plus, they're all remixes of each other anyway.

Who did the FF11 OST? That was great and SE should get them to do their open world FF game. FF11 is a game that no one should ever play but that soundtrack was pretty perfect.

That makes sense. CC also had a great OST full of neat town and countryside themes.

When I heard that FF XV will have Shimomura as the main composer I was excited and still am, she has a recognizable style, true, but I think she's still very good and it's high time was given a chance to compose a score for a mainline Final Fantasy.

Different composers for FF11. You could tell because parts would sound just like Crystal Chronicles and then different areas had a different sort of theme altogether.

Even if the frame rate is choppy/locked to 30fps, it's going to look appreciably better from a higher render resolution alone.

All re-releases/ports are getting the treatment that gets them out the door the quickest and with the least amount of staff. They've got Final Fantasy 15, Kingdom hearts 2.8, Kingdom hearts 3, and Final Fantasy 7, all large resource games that mostly have to be out next year. It shows because Square isn't even going to spend the time to fix their IOS poo poo, the stuff that makes them money because it will cost them more money to re-allocate staff to fix older releases.
