Sakamoto did stellar work on Dragon Quarter and it's a shame he's not asked to do more of that kind of music rather than the FFTish stuff people usually want.

And I'm saying this as a big FFT fan.

Its very prevalent in the game, it starts up a lot of the times when things get ''serious''(not that the game actually achieves that but i digress) and also each time you actually start up the game as it goes into th whole "previously in final fantasy 13-2".

I was playing FF13-2 for a bit when the PC version went on sale and... I do not like it much. It runs really choppy which is weird because I can play Witcher 3 fine and MGS5 flawlessly.

Also, I have Witcher 3 and MGS5, which are both better games. I'll probably never finish it or pick up LR.

It's the Crystal Tools engine itself. Runs like poo poo on 360, PS3 and PC. It's just that the consoles cap the framerate at 30, while PC has the option for higher framerates but that also means greater instability.

It sounds like it came out of some second rate reality show or a low budget action flick, what with that annoying motif that runs through the entire song. Its sparse, has pauses in all the wrong areas and most of all makes it hard(er) to take anything on screen seriously.

I listen to it and I think of a deadpan voiceover describing how if John Jim Bob the truck driver does not economize his fuel usage he will run out of fuel and be stranded in the middle of nowhere, then a smash cut to the fuel gauge hovering over E.

I am mad about a song in a game i dont like very much.

And say that Shimomura's been putting out boring/samey stuff lately. The Kingdom Hearts boss fight themes do all sound the same (with so much high-speed violin) but I'm pretty sure that's just how Nomura wants them to be. Plus, they're all remixes of each other anyway.

Who did the FF11 OST? That was great and SE should get them to do their open world FF game. FF11 is a game that no one should ever play but that soundtrack was pretty perfect.

When I heard that FF XV will have Shimomura as the main composer I was excited and still am, she has a recognizable style, true, but I think she's still very good and it's high time was given a chance to compose a score for a mainline Final Fantasy.

THE AWESOME GHOST

Different composers for FF11. You could tell because parts would sound just like Crystal Chronicles and then different areas had a different sort of theme altogether.

Naoshi Mizuta, who did a large number of tracks for FF13-2 and Lightning Returns. Mizuta is now doing Square's mobile games, including Dimensions and probably Dimensions 2.

He did some stuff for Front Mission 5, Front Mission Online and Dawn of Mana, as well as Mario Hoops 3-on-3 and Mario Sports Mix.

He's following the Shimomura career path, but with Mario instead of Mickey.

This is his take on Bowser's castle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOe-t1bElII

Edit: His stuff from Dawn of Mana is mostly Secret/Legend of Mana covers, which all have a very Primal feel to them, if you know what I mean.

PC gaming is a dumping ground and is of least concern and priority with any company if you are not Valve or Blizzard.

LR can be had for under 20 bucks at this point.

The best version of most games even on this current gen is on PC. Even Japanese devs have moved over for the most part, MGS5 on PC runs extremely well

Remember to tweet Square-Enix your enthusiasm for her return to Steam™'s marketplace.

Yet Square Enix announces that Final Fantasy's target audience is on the playstation and just seems to be staying there.

There's no vast migration to PC it's stagnated, the only place where user growth happened was in Android/IOS.

you're not going to get noticeably better performance out of the PC port.

Infact it could wind up being worse just like the Final Fantasy 5 port.

Even if the frame rate is choppy/locked to 30fps, it's going to look appreciably better from a higher render resolution alone.

All re-releases/ports are getting the treatment that gets them out the door the quickest and with the least amount of staff. They've got Final Fantasy 15, Kingdom hearts 2.8, Kingdom hearts 3, and Final Fantasy 7, all large resource games that mostly have to be out next year. It shows because Square isn't even going to spend the time to fix their IOS poo poo, the stuff that makes them money because it will cost them more money to re-allocate staff to fix older releases.
