I really hope they take care of that problem in Final. That's been on my one negative in what it supposed to be a perfect game for me.

Edit: Also regardless of it, I will spend 80 hours on it like did with 4. :getin:

It's anime as hell, has a pretty love it or hate it cast, and some of the sidequests are incredibly easy to miss but I enjoyed the battle system, world, character development, and all the little secrets you can find.

Just depends on your taste I suppose.

Oh and for SMT Final, I hope they fix the neutral route requiring either good luck or looking up a guide to get on. Seriously, it's such a small window that you can actually miss if you end up being too neutral before the final alignment choice.

In my mind I just pretend. My brain is my only true friend.
So, it seems my screen protectors have finally arrived so it's time to set up this N3DS! I want to say that there was a particular way to transfer the files between both cards so you don't need to use the wireless option (that could take hours). Also, do the microSD cards need to be formatted to a certain specific format? I ask as the nearest computer happens to be a non-windows one so I need to figure out if I'll need to track something else down.

Now, if only I can pick out a set or two of plates besides the Smash one that's on the way.

FAT32 is fine and I believe is what's standared on 32GB and smaller. 64GB and up is SDXC which uses exFAT and requires that you reformat it with FAT32 to use it on the 3DS. It should be fine on a Mac, you just copy contents from one card to the other when you do the transfer with the non-wireless option.

Yeah, the card I picked up is a 64GB SDXC card but if it'll load from exFAT and I can reformat to FAT32, I'm hoping we'll be good either way. And it'll show you how to do that on the systems themselves? I'm more worried about making sure my information transfers over correctly but I'm sure writing down the information that I need will help in that regard.

Use Nintendo's recommendation formatter and be done with it

Are you currently using a microsd?

How many gigs are you planning transfer?

I'm assuming the non-windows is a Mac, which should have a sd card reader...

Yeah, I've got the reader ready to go and thanks to that tool, I think I've got everything I'll need.

I'm currently using a 32GB SD card and I have a 64GB microSD card that I picked up for the N3DS. The 32GB card has 13.25GB used from what I can tell. I'm going to probably tackle any transfers tomorrow but I appreciate the help everyone's provided so far.

So I am totally confused about the versioning of these things. I guess I want a New one, but how do I figure out if I want an XL or not? I guess my Dslites both had a hinge that broke, is one sturdier than the other? Does the new XL do that thing people were complaining about with the older XLs? Should I just get the animal crossing bundle at Target?

Do you want interchangeable backplates and a slightly-larger screen, or a much larger screen? The hinges are fine on both.

I hate the encounters on the World Map, coupled with the fact that it's difficult to find a route through, when you're suddenly chased by a pixellated block which appeared right in front of you, it gets irritating.

Aside from that, SMT IV owns. I need to pick it back up again.

My problem is, I have the worst sense of direction imaginable anyway. I get lost so easily it's not even funny. Couple that with your only landmarks being [Japanese name] is near [other Japanese name], and it doesn't make for ease of navigation.

I might have an easier time with it now that I've played Devil Survivor, though. These random names make a little bit more sense, but only a little.

That could be it. Honestly in my head Tokyo looks like this:

I have no idea how these areas are really laid out in a map, and as a tourist you have 0 reason to go to a lot of those spots anyway.

I remember my in-head directions being TOTALLY wrecked when I walked from one major station to another, the trains are so quick and straightforward you forget there's a massive superdense city you're skipping over. Getting off at a different station feels like you're in a new city sometimes

I hope Persona 5 is an accurate HD Anime Tokyo

If I have the Wii U version and a friend buys the 3DS one can he unlock these for me? I like the Wii U version but got bored with the existing characters, for me most of the fun is trying out new guys.

Yeah I had that map saved in a SMT4 MAP folder on my phone for how often I'd use it.

I remember the map so badly because I had like... 2 flights that took 18 hours and decided to play SMT 4 on those flights. With no internet I was lost on the world map for about an hour with no way to look up where to go. It was kinda nostalgic.

Of course this was the old 3DS so the battery only lasted 4 hours anwyay

The characters will be unlocked in the Wii U version via a code packed in with the game. So if your friend has no other use for the code, they can just give it to you.

Don't be discouraged by the hard start, it gets much easier when you actually get a full party of demons. The beginning is the hardest part of the game

If you use one of the variety of alignment guides on gamefaqs you should know that they are wrong (or at least were back when I played); you could get either Chaos or Law but not Neutral with them. The SMT IV thread here had some corrections for it. If you don't care about getting the Neutral ending then I guess this isn't really a problem though.

Recruit demons like it's your job. The beginning is hard as poo poo, but don't get frustrated. Once you have a full party of demons, it's much easier.

Also, same rules in Devil Survivor apply when it comes to fusing demons. If you have to ask yourself "Should I fuse this demon? The answer is always an emphatic yes." Just make sure you register a demon to the Compendium before you fuse it so you can get it back if you need it. As far as I know there's no "register all" button like there is in Devil Survivor, so it's a bit of a pain. Oh, and also when a demon learns all the skills it's able to learn, it can teach one to you- the game calls it Demon Whisper. When that happens, I figure I'm free to fuse a demon because it's learned all it's going to learn. However SOME demons can evolve when they get to certain levels (just like Pokemon), so keep that in mind too!

There's also DLC for the game. I recommend picking up the Macca and EXP grinding ones at least, to make it easier to play with the Compendium and fusing and whatnot, and it doesn't break the game much. The App point one does break the game in half, so avoid that if you want to play it straight.

Besides what everyone else said, if you're gonna go with a physical build then raise Dex, not Str. Both stats affect physical damage skills about equally and once you get a gun if you're gonna attack you'll be using that more often than not, and it's powered by Dex.

Yeah, guns are super important for a physical specialist. You get a selection of elemental guns as the game goes on, and they'll help you use your leader to get extra turns against things that aren't weak against piercing or whatever. Other than that, the higher-level physical "spells" are really strong, so you can pump out huge damage if you have your demons on debuff/press-turn duty.

Actually no the really dumb thing is Dex raises physical skills by about DOUBLE what STR does. Very quickly you will stop using sword attacks and stick to skills exclusively at which point points in STR are literally wasted because you never use your sword.

Even when you use auto attacks, DEX actually boosts guns not STR so you end up just using guns
