It's so bad, y'all, in the second episode a zombie shows up on a dog sled and a zombie dog gets loose and DJ Qualls has to fight it. I cannot believe how much DJ Qualls is in the show.

The part at the end of the first episode (which is the only one I've watched) where he gives that speech was just so bad.

As for The Minority Report, it continues to be so generic and bland I can't see anyone giving a poo poo when it is canceled.

He was a decent actor at playing awkward as hell or overall goof. Is that what they're DOING in Z-Nation?

In any case, I posted this in another thread, but it bears repeating. The iZombie cast did a some homage videos that are about 15 seconds long each and pretty freaking hilarious.

The tools of a hero mean nothing without a solid core.

Minority Report episode 1: "We're being a little fascist but it's to stop a terror attack"
Episode 2: "We're bending over backwards to not be fascist, and if we had been fascists we'd have arrested the wrong guy."
Episode 3: "Our sorta-fascist precog agrees with the INCREDIBLY fascist computer algorithm, so it's time to go peak Police State on this guy to save a life!"

I dislike shows hammering home a moral message as much as the next guy, but the tone's been all over the place.

From what I saw, Supergirl is the superhero show that Hollywood thinks women want to watch. I suspect Jessica Jones will be the superhero show that women actually want to watch. The source material is amazing, the lead actress is quality, the released promos imply a disturbing and adult tone and Daredevil was fantastic. I think all the pieces are in place for it to be just as good as its stablemate.

The one reason I'd exercise caution is that the showrunner, Melissa Rosenberg, is a bit of a wildcard; a collection of upsides and downsides which have conditions attached to their conditions. Let me break it down:

-She's best known as the screenwriter for the Twilight films...
-...but you could argue that she wouldn't have much control over them anyway, since the series was a cultural phenomenon and any major deviation from it would've been called out and shamed.
-Before that she was a writer/producer on Dexter...
-...during seasons 1-4. She was a top lieutenant in the room -- perhaps even co-showrunner -- for S4, which is when everyone started to think it was getting its poo poo back together. Coincidentally, when she left after that, the show went off a cliff.
-However, the one show she got on the air afterwards (Red Widow) was a boring slog...
-...that aired on ABC, which isn't really known for executives that "get it."
-Then again, Netflix has a "hands-off" approach for its writers and its led to the kind of groggy-paced dramas (Marco Polo) that matched Red Widow's speed, even if their payoffs could be incredible (Bloodline).
-And really, all of this amounts to guesstimating from an experienced viewer with very little in the way of insider knowledge.

I'm optimistic because of everything else I've seen -- plus, well, I'm me. But I've left plenty of room for caution this time.

Urgh. Think I'll skip that then. I have a real problem with the generically packaged undertones of authoritarian/fascist propaganda that are almost ubiquitous in certain types of US dramas. One that is see-sawing back and forth seems almost worse, because it implies an understanding that the message is wrong, but an inability or unwillingness to refuse to perpetuate it.
