Would it be too stupid to just have a final level set during Operation N313 where Solid Snake kills you? It might be an opportunity to flesh out Venom acting like a cackling cartoon villain for that fight.

Now this just makes me want a prequel to The Last Days of Foxhound set during Peace Walker, probably called The Last Days of Mother Base. Hell, the epilogue writes itself, just use the end of Ground Zeroes/start of Phantom Pain.

Nope, but only if you're playing as Solid Snake, with no indicators (face all covered up) that you're Solid Snake until you enter the room to face down against Venom.

Or, sort of like the ending to Red Dead Redemption where you get swiss cheesed.

Wait, gently caress. Convoluted.

Edit:There is no way any of this series' narrative was thought out prior to the previous installment's story, and while that's true for many games, I think MG would have a harder time trying to prove otherwise than a lot of others.

Edit 2: Admittedly, I say that at least partially-facetiously, knowing how the creative process goes. Joke based on empirical evidence and poo poo--not looking to start something.

How sensitive are vocal chord parasites to detecting "language?" What if you say utterly ubiquitous words, not in a sentence, like "Coca-Cola," "OK," or "radio." Would those set off an English parasite?
How about loanwords, or homophones.

I don't really feel like hearing Code Talker talk for 30 minutes to listen to all his fake research about fake parasites. Honestly I really hate the tapes. They suck. Some of them are like 10 minutes long and don't actually convey any information at all. Sometimes I listen to the tapes while eating or something, and it's really loving boring.

edit: While I'm thinking about things that have disappointed me, all the bosses in Metal Gear Solid 1 personally knew Big Boss and have some rather extensive backstory involving him, that is never again mentioned.

The basic summary is the parasites respond very specifically and have to be trained for dialects and accents as well as grammatical structures and the like and so require enormous amounts of exposure to the intended language, and responding to anything else is a genetic mutation that has to be sectioned off and exposed to the new language or dialect (e.g. Spanish/Portuguese). Code Talker mentions that Skull Face has been infected not just with Hungarian parasites but the specific Hungarian parasites for the regional dialect of his birthplace, which suggests those things exist.

Except the crux of the plot turns on an "English" strain, which makes no sense, as English has hundreds of accents and dialects and there's tremendous variation between British and American English vocabularies, use of loanwords and neologisms, and so forth. If it takes a specific regional variant parasite for Skull Face to not be able to speak his particular version of Hungarian, the "English strain" shouldn't affect Texans and Northern Irish. Everybody acts like it will. It doesn't really make sense.

I think they try to skirt around that by making the mechanism to wake up both integrative and time dependent. So regional strains can speed up activation from the integrative effect (speak more words they are sensitive to and they wake up quicker) and increase the likelihood of reaching a pandemic state. While in general, accents, off shoots, and loan words might trigger the copulation eventually, because it only takes one trigger to get them waking slowly.

So his plan is sort of to see what would pan out in the survival of the fittest language, regarding who could avoid English load words or roots similar enough to trigger the English parasite awakening.

If they destroyed the non-regional diction that they probably played over the tapes, or maybe a Midwestern accent, it'd still be pretty devastating. If you were a Texan, how would you ever know you would never speak a word that triggered the parasites?
