Xander77 posted:Seriously? Where do you get those? A bunch of NSF guys carry sniper rifles, and the lady drifer in the shack at the rear docks sells sniper ammo. Service bunker behind the statue has a few crates of mods in it, and there's more GEP rockets in the docks too. I'm still exploring and haven't checked all the main locations yet, but I can see completionists coming away from this mission with an inventory practically bursting with high-end ammo, upgraded guns and explosives.

Also, letting the terrorist leader surrender and then knocking him out gives you a nice mod (at least with Shifter on) and the full op bonus (1250, right?)

No special gear on the leader (just tried knocking him out now), and you get the mission reward (1000) upon talking to him. I did miss rescuing Gunther though. I guess this is Revision's own built-in version of Biomod, so some things are gonna be different. I guess it makes sense that the game is going to throw significantly more weaponry at you. Enemy counts are significantly higher than they used to be, and better equipped too. I made the mistake of getting too close to an NSF merc with a flamethrower on Liberty Island. Can someone give me a primer on all the mods? I have never played the original DE but I'd like to before Mankind Divided. I've tooled around Liberty Island but never beat that part. Should my first run be the original unmodded? I have the Steam version with no other mods installed. Is Biomod part of that install? Are game breaking bugs patched?

Are game breaking bugs patched? Install this. http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/ That fixes a bunch of the bugs and generally gets the game to run properly on modern systems. There are some graphical mods that you can consider that don't change the game at all, but for gameplay, I'd go vanilla first. The gameplay holds up really really well.

Yeah. Other than not being able to jump high enough to climb things without those tiny-rear end blocks, I don't really get much out of stuff like Biomod and Shifter. Vanilla Deus Ex is where it's at.

Biomod is worth using even on your first playthrough since it removes trap choices and other bad design elements and makes the aug system significantly better (Shifter is already part of Biomod, so no need to install both).

People tend to prefer Biomod to Shifter, but (as someone who played through the whole game with the former and only started with the later) I like the random xp bonuses, and the fact that you don't have to invest in Athletics just to get you regular jump height back to vanilla.

Both of those problems you mentioned were fixed in a 1.1 patch to Biomod about 3 months ago.

Been playing Deus Ex Revision for about 2.5 hours now. Died 7 times. Totally forgot how if there is combat somewhere far away where the NSF engaged the UNATCO robot, this means of course that every NSF fucker can turn, run to me and zero in on my position even while I'm stealthing. While I was having a nice conversation with the informant a soldier walked up behind me and pumped me full of lead because conversations do not stop the clock. Ah yes. Deus Ex.

I like vanilla Deus Ex more than the recommended mods because of how broken it is. You can do a lot of fun and crazy things with its brokeness.

Is there a way with Deus Ex Revision to get back to the renderer selection? I selected DX10 but now I hear that it causes issues, and I think it might be why Simons and Page are rocking awesome shades in the intro: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=535959803

Apparently, Shifter doesn't have Ford spawn in Smuggler's hideout after you rescue him. Weird and disappointing. In related news, did anyone manage to get into the new little shop area behind Smuggler? I thought I could get there from the rafters in his bedroom, but those just lead to big empty room, looking out into a black void.

I wonder about that room too, tried knocking Smuggles down with the GEP but that did not work. I can only assume there's some well hidden nanokey for that door somewhere. They wouldn't tease us like this right?

There's a lot of weird level design decisions. Like the 100% keypad door in UNATCO that just leads to a server room with a repair bot. Yes, a server room would normally be very secure, but there should be a gameplay payoff for using that many multi tools. I've started saving before picking doors.

For a non lethal run with biomod, max out pistol and melee, right? And sniper rifle won't be very useful? I vaguely remember doing a non lethal run a decade ago but I haven't played a full run since and I'm kinda going into these mods blind with Revision.

Also - did anyone find a way to get in here? (New hell's kitchen area - some fire stairs and a door with no obvious ladder to get there and way too high to stack crates. With the way the entrance is placed, I don't think even grenade climbing will help)

Xander77 posted:Apparently, Shifter doesn't have Ford spawn in Smuggler's hideout after you rescue him. Weird and disappointing. He shows up in Biomod for Revision. You might have to wait until the next time you show up in Hell's Kitchen actually, he showed up for me when I came back to deal with the Killswitch. Also there's a lot of areas where you're teased but never actually get access to until either way later in the game (UNATCO Armory) or just outright from what I can tell (the area behind Smuggler in Revision). In Hell's Kitchen there's a street with a heap of dead bodies and weapon mods lying around, ghosting through the fence shows that you really wouldn't be able to access it. Side note, when you get out of the 'Ton after UNATCO poo poo hits the fan with Paul? A bunch of those balconies across the street now sport snipers. Pistols will help you with your tranq bow, so yes. Melee is up in the air because early on you'll get Paul's blackjack from his apartment and that poo poo is beastly even with zero points in melee. They have significantly increased the amount of skill points it takes to max out your various computer related skills and there are far fewer multi tools and lock picks to be found in the wild. I'm finding prod chargers all over the place it seems. You could also go for no guns, really the only thing this locks you out of is using pepper spray or for using a pistol to set off an explosive.
|

I think I already blew the no guns by using a gep gun on the sunken tanker off the liberty island dock. If I drop items in my "office" will they stay there through board changes? Also I can't remember, does this game limit mods per weapon or should I just slap everything I find onto the dartgun
