If you max out your charge, it vents automatically and you take lots of damage. IIRC, some goon said the higher or highest difficulty has friendly fire

Is it like Chivarly where you do more damage based on where within your swing the hit connects? This might help, makes sense to me Essentially you can get a few things during a mission that increase your odds at the end, which are represented on the dice screen as suns under the success ratio. The tome and cursed dice replace your six regular dice, the grimoires add an additional die that will always hit. - Regular dice get 2/6 chance to land, get six of these by default - Cursed die gets 3/6 chance to land, found in missions, takes up no space in inventory - Tome dies are 4/6 to land, 3 per mission, takes up your health slot but can be freely dropped and picked back up again. - Grimoire dice (2 per mission) always land (6/6 chance) and do not replace a die on the board, meaning you always get a one point upgrade on your rolls. That being said, the grims replace your potion slot, will be destroyed if they are dropped, and reduce the health of the entire team by a third. That means that getting two grims gives you a much better chance at getting something good but you will have only a tiny sliver of health left. For the record, the only way to get to the blues on the top of the stack is for all six dies to hit as well as the two bonus grim dice. So it's a hell of a time. Another note about Tomes that makes them really good is that each one you secure at the end of a map gets you an additional 100 XP.

Careful with Grims though. They are super tempting, but let's not forget that pubbies are generally both bad players as well as bad people, and you get nothing but regret if you fail the mission.

Is it like Chivarly where you do more damage based on where within your swing the hit connects? That's because you're using the shield and sword. You have a really wide range because you are basically being a tank. You're damage is meh but you hit and bash in a wide arc to get a lot of Skaven attention and your block has a lot of stamina to handle all the heat your being on yourself. Also depending on where your arc is and a rats location will depend if you hit them. Some weapons swing out from the shoulders so rats right against you on your side will get hit but then as you swing your arc will reach a lot further in front if you. Also if a Stormvermin is in a group of clan or slave rats their armor will stop your arc from continuing as you swing so keep an eye out for that One last Stormvermin note is that they can shove just like you. When they do you get shoved back slightly but it'll also interrupt an attack or a block. If you're facing two at once it's not uncommon for one to do a big wind up attack and the other to shove you to break your block as it's about to go off. Or shove you into a group of clan rats Dr. VooDoo fucked around with this message at 00:13 on Oct 17, 2015 |

If you think sword/axe/whatever and shield is a bit light, give that dude a two-handed weapon. I liked the dwarf with a shield, but taking two swipes to kill even a slave got kind of old. Then I got out the soldier's two-handed hammer. All of your attacks are armor-piercing with that thing so you're the go-to guy for stormvermin. The dwarf's two-handed axe is the same way.

Game owns and I really like playing the dwarf, switched to the witch hunter for a few rounds and I feel like I'm pretty poo poo at clearing groups(most of the game), is there a secret to it with the rapier or is that the trade off for being able to kill specials like crazy with the charged headshot thrust? Tried using the dual pistols for 'OH poo poo' situations but it eats through ammo so quickly its completely unsustainable.

Witch Hunter and the elf feel like high damage classes for single targets. They can put the hurt on Stormvermin and ogres pretty hard. For a L4D comparison they're the sniper rifles compared to the shotguns

The trick with the rapier is to go for headshots. You can hit fast and hard on the head, and your charged attack has extra range and always penetrates armor, so very good against Stormvermin. The pistols are excellent mid range, and the rapid fire mode is for emergencies, like when a sack rat shows up, or someone has grabbed a teammate.

So, I got the handgun/harquebus on the Soldier and holy poo poo this thing is the Vemintide sniper rifle. It's single-shot and relaods glacially slow, but anything not a Rat-Ogre dies in one headshot and it's pinpoint accurate if you aim in with RMB. Stormvermin go down in two hits to the body.DreamShipWrecked posted:For the record, the only way to get to the blues on the top of the stack is for all six dies to hit as well as the two bonus grim dice. IIRC you need to play Nightmare to have an orange item at the top of the stack.

To those that played in the past betas, have you found any bright wizard staves that reduce overcharge/spell cost? I tried her out for a few maps and it seemed like I was ALWAYS burning myself for damage in any fight that lasted more than 10 seconds, even with copious amounts of venting. I'm hoping its due to running the default white staff and it gets a little better with some different items.

I found a blue staff that reduces the overcharge gain by 20% as well as reducing the health cost of venting by 20% so now im an engine of doom spitting out fireballs left and right. poo poo is pretty tight. Now if i could just get a fire sword to go with that.

Yeah Magnus Tower is a cake walk for every grp I've been in (pubs included) compared to Supply & Demand. Not too surprised though because it's massive and sorta open. Something similar was happening on that forest map from the last beta. Ppl just seem to have a hard time not wandering off and sticking together on those bigger arenas. Side Note: Did hard for the first time tonight and it's mostly fine save a ratogre fight with pubbies that felt like it took ten minutes.
