Sigh, Pion seems to be straight up eating the newspaper I use for cage lining. I can't imagine it being well tasting, or healthy, but it might actually be filling. This is in less than one day, and there aren't any shreds to be found. Any suggestions to countering this? "More regular food" is not an answer, there's still plenty and she needs to lose some weight either way. nielsm fucked around with this message at 15:28 on Oct 17, 2015 |

Can't teach them not to be loud af though nielsm posted:Sigh, Pion seems to be straight up eating the newspaper I use for cage lining. Weird that the bird is actually eating it. Pretty common for ground foragers to rip up the cage liner though, mine certainly does.

Use plain kitchen roll, maybe sprinkle some of her food on the floor so she's got other stuff to forage for, and cardboard stuff so she has other stuff to chew up.

I used to work at a printing press! The ink is non toxic, unless eaten in incredible quantities. Like, buckets worth.

The last couple times I went into my local PetCo I pretty much ended up crying because the birds were so lonely and were stuck in empty cages. I asked once if I could play with them just to help with socialization but the employee said no. Well, I steeled myself and went back in this week to find a completely different set up!! The birds had more toys and seemed really happy. I'm guessing whoever is in charge of the bird section now is a lot more devoted, based the detailed descriptions and better care. I had sooo much fun playing with Peaches. He climbed around and bobbed his head a lot. I only get to hang out with my potato once a year when I'm visiting my mom, and she isn't nearly as playful, so it was nice to interact with a conure. Speaking of, here's a picture I got from my mom today: Sorry to wake you up..
