I have no idea how it will affect ratings today, but personally speaking I will only be watching live today if the rugby game isn't compelling enough. Sorry Doctor Who, but the prospect of the gloriously unstable French rugby team either destroying New Zealand's dreams again or just imploding is a pretty big draw.PriorMarcus posted:But, yeah, supposedly were due one this season or maybe in the Christmas special. Well that's pretty much what I thought the reason was regardless, and I'm glad they didn't try to make it some overcomplicated time-warp continuity-nonsense. Edit: I get the feeling Mathieson wrote the first 30-35 minutes and Moffat wrote the ending, since it seemed more based on the overall season-arc stuff. It looks like that "hybrid" stuff Davros bought up is going to actually be a thing, which I have mixed feelings about. Jerusalem fucked around with this message at 21:10 on Oct 17, 2015 |

Once again I thought that was another okay to decent episode. Doubt it'll be anyones favourite, but it there wasnt anything particularly bad in it either.

Probably the worst episode so far this series, it was fairly mediocre. Maisie Williams was good though.

I thought it was fun, but ultimately forgettable.... though based on the trailer for next week and the "hybrid" stuff it's going to prove to be more "important" as an episode than it first looked like it would be.

Well I liked that one too. Wasn't expecting much from this episode until I saw who'd written it. The comedy bits in this episode were just great, and the vikings were just the right sort of cheesy for the serious bits. I'm still chuckling at all those nicknames.

I really liked that one. The first two episodes of this series had me a bit worried, but I've really enjoyed these last three. And if they were going to address him looking like Peter Capaldi, then I think this was just about the best way to do it. Now the question is this: what message was he sending himself by taking Maxil's face?

Not keen on this hybrid stuff. Liked the reasoning for the face - though I guess by that logic Six's reason is to remind himself to be abrasive to people I don't really understand the press hype towards the GOT actress - her character's bland, her acting is kinda bland, and I rolled my eyes during the dialogue in her shack with the Doctor about her being unique, or whatever guff was said. Meh, episode. But it can stand on its own as a complete episode, without feeling like they ran out of time, or edited the poo poo outta it. Probably the most indifferent I've been to stuff happening so far in the season though.

Did anybody else get a bit of a Hartnell vibe from the early bit where the Doctor is roaring about pretending to be Odin? The voice actually struck me as very Hartnell-ish (when he got strident).... but maybe it was just the pants.

Well the scene wasn't very Hartnell - he basically never claimed to be anything except a traveller unless circumstances forced otherwise (eg. The Aztecs). Also his pants? Your version of the first Doctor is clearly a bit more risque

Your version of the first Doctor is clearly a bit more risque It just reminded me of those scenes where Hartnell would get all strident/mad at somebody who wasn't listening/paying attention to him, his voice could get surprisingly boomy considering his "age". And the pants are probably a bit more Troughton than Hartnell, but there's often times where the way Capaldi carries himself remind me more and more of Hartnell (in a good way).
