That offside was blown, it came off gold

Can't really argue with the result, they were only ever really close due to missed kicks and comedy errors.

Poor Scotland :( I'm a bit of a rugby novice, can someone explain to me why the last knock on (I'm sure I saw the ref say it was a knock on?) led to a game winning penalty kick instead of a scrum? I thought knock on = scrum?

Picked up by a teammate who was in front of him, so it was offside

That last decision seemed a bit suspect but it would have been a smash and grab luckwise if the Scots had won.

Nigel Owens can ref all game from here on out, right?

If you knock the ball on and a teammate is in front of you and plays the ball, then it's a penalty. Except often it's ruled an "accidental offsides" instead and given a scrum.

But it also looked like an Australian was the one who actually hit the ball, and made it go backwards (which is the same as forwards for the other team) and that the ref missed it and assumed a Scotland player had knocked it.

Jon Welsh grabbed at the ball from an offside position. It also came off Josh Strauss' shoulder, so it wasn't a knock-on.

Good old Scottish hard luck story. See that bit in the first post about "how it feels to be a Scotland fan"? It's been pretty much distilled by that game, picture that disappointment, but then go past it to the point where you're numb to it because you've seen it so many times before, and in fact, after the try was scored were actively beginning to wonder just how it would inevitably go wrong.
