EDIT: ^ I'd watch it. With The Big Revolution happening in the finale of Season 1, of course.

Saying utterly stupid poo poo like "Wealth is the last taboo" and "protests can be very stressful for the rich" is just ridiculous, but I do feel sympathy for people who have money but are depressed and anxious from living unsatisfying and unhappy lives when they're supposed to "have it all". That's fundamentally hard to sympathize with, of course, but that only makes it worse.

EDIT2: Also kind of tired of these kinds of pieces where they interview "wealth therapists" and then run away giggling with their clickbait. They're therapists, they're not about to go about announcing how much they hate their rich clients and ugh, they should just suck it up, buttercup.

I want to start off with that mindset, then I spend half a second thinking about the policies they put their wealth and effort behind which are specifically designed to warp the fabric of society and the workings of government to deny others access to even the tiny portion of that wealth which would allow them to not be homeless or have access to medical care or get fundamental nutrition taken care of.

So no, gently caress them. No sympathy. They can cry their crocodile tears into their gold plated therapist pillows and then get hosed. If they want to stop feeling bad about it how about they do something with their wealth to help others? Until then seeing these fuckers pilloried on a national scale is the best thing to come out of the Occupy movement and I hope it ferments into full throated Robin Hood-esque 'kill the rich, take their money'. If they won't work towards solving the situations, get a few guillotines and a bit more socialism going on then we can talk about the feelings of the people that contributed so much to the problems that exist.

Also wealth basically translates into freedom. Someone with "only" a few million dollars has the ability to reinvent themselves pretty much as often as they'd like. It's hard to feel much sympathy for someone who's basically facing the same problems as everyone else, but who has a greater ability to control their situation than almost anyone else in society.

I'd be willing to bet money that almost all of these fuckers don't even know that we've caught the guys responsible, or that the Libyans tried to help the Ambassador get to safely after the attack:

quote:

Some of the Libyans who entered the compound apparently tried to rescue Stevens after they found him lying alone on the floor in a dark smoke-filled room with a locked door accessible only by a window. A group of men pulled him out of the room through the window, and then placed him on the courtyard's stone tile floor. They were unaware of his identity. Abdel-Qader Fadl, a freelance photographer who was with the Libyans at the scene, told the Associated Press that Stevens was unconscious and "maybe moved his head, but only once." The crowd cheered "Allāhu Akbar" when Stevens was found to be alive though it is unclear whether it was in response to Stevens being found alive. Ahmed Shams, a 22-year-old arts students who was among the Libyans, told the Associated Press that they were happy when they found Stevens alive and tried to rescue him but there were no security or any ambulances available. A freelance videographer, Fahd al-Bakoush, later published a video showing Libyans trying to extract the ambassador from a smoke-filled room, where he was found unconscious. According to al-Bakoush, the Libyans saw he was alive and breathing, his eyelids flickering. Though they took him to be a foreigner, no one recognized him as Stevens.

At around 1 am, he was rushed to the Benghazi Medical Center, a hospital controlled by the Ansar Al-Sharia militia, in a private car as there was no ambulance to carry him.

At the hospital, Stevens was administered CPR for 90 minutes by Dr. Ziad Abu Zeid. According to Abu Zeid, Stevens died from asphyxiation caused by smoke inhalation, and that Stevens had no other injuries. The doctor said he believed that officers from the Libyan Interior Ministry transported the body to the airport and into United States custody. State Department officials said they do not know who took Stevens to the hospital or transported the body to the airport and into U.S. custody.
Fast forward about a year:

quote:

On August 6, 2013, it was reported that the U.S. had filed criminal charges against several individuals, including militia leader Ahmed Abu Khattala, for alleged involvement in the attacks. Khattala has been described by Libyan and U.S. officials as the Benghazi leader of Ansar al-Sharia, which was listed in January 2014 by the U.S. Department of State as a terror organization. On the weekend of June 14, 2014, U.S. Army special operations forces, in coordination with the FBI, captured Khattala in Libya.
Congratulations, if you read all of this then you now know more about the Benghazi attack then any of the Benghazi "investigation" congressional meetings/groups.

Speaking of, its pretty weird that donations are tax-deductible, but volunteer work isn't (especially since a value for labor is established for charity tax reports - 21.60 an hour or somesuch).

Like, there's always been a lot of jokes along the lines of "gently caress the rich", but it's become a kind of echo chamber in here about murdering people.Which is funny, because some of the same people who say it are REAL sanctimonious about murder in other respects.

You get paid $21.60 an hour, which is income, which you donate back to the org, which you therefore deduct.

I liken it to Tumblrites saying "Kill all men" then complaining that they need a "Safe Space" on the internet. That being said I don't support it but I don't think we'll see things change for the better until rich people start getting murdered for being rich.

Given that a sorta-prominent GOP candidate for president has been openly calling for a return of debt slavery, I don't think it's all that unexpected to hear taht sort of rhetorical pushback.

I have some relatives who are very well off and while they do cut donation checks, they also spend a shitload of time volunteering for various organizations throughout the year because they're retired. Just seems a little dumb to say "kill all rich people" when those people aren't taken into account.
