Speaking of addons:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/76327661/Addon%20Pack.rar

It includes all of Titan, because I wasn't sure which folders I needed to include and which ones I didn't so... You can disable it all and figure it out yourself, it's workable like that. But other than that, it's (mostly) my configuration, including Decursive, I'll add the link to the OP when I fix it on Monday.

There's a Horde guild called Goon Squad, not sure if it has any connection to SA though.

I heard they fixed it, but I haven't been in any contested areas so I wouldn't know. Someone said it was a bug with the Stranglethorn Arena I believe.

Well, my wife decided she wanted to start work on painting the computer room today. I'm on work travel Tuesday and Wednesday and the nephew is coming over Thursday. So I probably won't be on until Friday, but more likely Saturday or Sunday. I'm bummed because I wanted to hit 18-20 today and run deadmines.

No idea, but I managed to get to L10 on Pratchett, with all but maybe 2 quests skipped. The first two zones were a lot more quest friendly compared to launch. I suspect we had the same healthy population, but dispersed.

When I get to ~L20 I want to run SFK a few times to gear up.

Part of me feels it would be fun to have a horde goon guild of our alts, simply to do bgs against each other.

Which one of these is doing the whole "NEW RECORD SET ON FIREBALL!!!!" thing? Half of these I never used before.

I don't really remember the old addons I used to use. Is there anything like Addon Control Panel to turn stuff on and off without logging out?

So I've never played as a Hunter before, let me get this straight:

I'm level 13. This means paying the 5 gold for my third pet stable slot is lol no. This means I can basically keep one pet and then tame/unlock/abandon another pet to get my main skills.

I unlock new skills for all pets by taming a new pet with new skills, and using them once in combat? I'll get a text notification about the skills being acquired the first time they proc? I never noticed that but I don't pay attention to text notification in combat, gotta watch those numbers explode out of the mob or whats the point.

Also, in a very basic sense, how is Dead Mines going to work for my Hunter? Just turn off growl and then he'll never ever out dps the mage/rogue so he wont draw aggo. The jokes about Hunters not be invited to instances are an exaggeration right? :ohdear:

Turn off Growl and you should be fine, DPS is a fight anyway. From the tank/healer's perspective, it doesn't matter if the Hunter or the Mage draws aggro, just that someone drew aggro (could be the tank's fault, could be the Mage opening up with a PoM AP Pyroblast, whatever).
As to not being invited, I always thought it was more due to Hunters (or Huntards if you want to be crude) having a tendency to roll need on a lot of items, since their class uses a lot of stats. Could be wrong though. And yeah there are some pathfinding issues with the pet and whatnot, but it's not always something you can control.

Are these pathfinding issues historic to wow or a problem with the emulated server; were there problems with pets in instances on the PvP server?

As for rolling need that's just something I can moderate by Not Being a Dick.

Most of them were historic to WoW as I remember. God help you if you forget to dismiss your pet before jumping down to fight Rend.

Melanion

Most pet pathfinding issues were related to jumping down from ledges. If you jump off of something and there's a nearby path down, your pet will take the path (possibly pulling mobs) instead of just teleporting down to you (which was how they solved this in later versions). So for instance, if your VC group jumps down to the bottom of the foundry instead of taking the spiral ramp with all the goblins, dismiss your pet beforehand.

I was surprised at that smooth launch. The only issues were overcrowded starting areas, but that was to be expected. I took my babby druid to explore the world and got to level 3 by hiking across the wetlands, to IF, SW, and Westfall for the fp's. I then hearthed back and joined a group farming Fel Rock cave until I got to level 6. After that, I just avoided any and all quests where there was a waiting line for spawn drops.

The druid poisons quest is broken, however. I got as far as curing all the sick deer, and cannot turn it in. It is a known issue on the forums and I put a bug report in. Any other druids have issues with this?

Now I'm back at work, so will be behind everyone leveling, and I'm kinda wondering if I should roll a new character at this early level. I love playing druids but remember how hard it was finding groups. I got into a deadmines group last night specifically because I was a feral druid and they didn't want anyone rolling on the staff drop or cloth drops. After I rolled on Smite's Mighty Hammer, they did a sneaky master loot thingy because "feral druids don't need strength", so I lost a chance to roll on anything from the final boss. The community is awful btw! So I hope goons allow druids in their instances. :colbert:

Yeah I'm not thrilled by the people I've encountered so far on the server (non goons). I had a guy named pussyjuice harass me because he saw me (a level 4 hunter) attacking a mob with my dagger because it spawned on me. Even after I made the effort to tell him this, he replied with "no it didn't I saw u" to which I just kept on stabbing things to spite him.

We found that rarely anyone wanted to group up for quests to share kills/escorts. Mangeclaw was the only time we got someone to group up. Most of the time we came to a zone with a nice greeting of "gently caress off". Such nice people on the server!

It's not the first time the abilities are used, it's pretty random actually. You'll see a yellow notification in your chat "<petname> has learned Claw (Rank 3)" or similar once it happens.

Be sure to tame rare spawns Lupos or Broken Tooth if you see them.

Keep in mind that all of this is subjective. Sometimes you get cool, competent people, sometimes you get stupid assholes. That said, private servers always get a lot of younger, poorer people that don't have to worry about getting their paid account banned over stupid poo poo.

I heard that the mining trainer in Stormwind was MIA last night. Total rear end in a top hat move, but a crafty way to try to corner the ore market.

And, remember, this is the first rush. A lot of people are just here to see what it feels like to got 60, or they'll get bored soon. I suspect that in a month, tops, we'll have a much more stable community. No PvP too, so no people who are just in it for the ganks.

I could be wrong, but I remember a lot more cool, competent people on Emerald Dream than stupid assholes there. Not saying that everyone will be a Tonydanza or a Cleon, but for every one Hurfdurf or that idiot that always advertised in the chats but never levelled, you'd have 3-4 Nighmanns or Wallabees (Wallabeeses? Wallabeess?) or something like that. Especially at higher levels, not to mention the fact that you'll most likely have a friends list filling with cool, competent people and THEY will (usually) know some cool, competent people, and so forth.

Emerald Dream was fun, hope this is fun too. I decided I hate myself and rolled a Paladin named Buffskeleton.

So far people have been okay, you just have to ask to group if there's a target that has competition. I'm using Vanilla Guide, does anyone else notice that it tends to give erroneous directions or gets east and west mixed up? At Fargodeep mine it said to go east to the stonefield farm or whatever and that place is west. I remember from leveling my hunter on Emerald Dream that I got confused a few times because of that.

I used Vanilla Guide on the PvP server back in March. It kinda sucks. It was only really helpful for "when you're 11 and every quest in Loch Modan is 15+, go to Westfall".
