Hey folks, a while ago I set out to create a Myst short. It's actually approved by the original creators but due to unfortunate circumstances I couldn't finish it. So I'm putting the completed teaser online and calling it a day. It's disappointing because I've never NOT finished a project before, but I guess that happens. I hope you enjoy it.

My brother and I have started a podcast. It's called See You In Five. It's a film review show where, instead of new releases, we cover movies released precisely five years ago. The idea being that we can examine cultural trends and examine the impact of a film in a way that reviews of the time wouldn't have been able to.

The first couple episodes are a little rough, but they've been edited pretty well and we've been getting a lot better at staying focused during the record. Our new episode for Edge Of Darkness is our most polished yet, so I'd recommend that one if you're interested.

We've gotten some downloads but we haven't been getting any feedback yet, so I'd love to hear what you guys think about the show. All the notes we've had so far have been from friends & family, so it would be good to get the perspective of strangers. Hope you guys dig it.

While it doesn't matter now since you're not going to complete the film, you should always try to not to put your fight scenes into teasers/trailers if you don't have an actual fight choreographer. Despite your impressive visual effects and cool premise, the fight scenes took me out of the moment and looked pretty lame.

Holy poo poo this whole thing is a fascinating look into Ugandan culture.

I mean the Video Joker thing is like some weird Rifftrax/MST3K concurrent evolution and it seems pretty widespread from the description.

I doubt this would realistically be an issue, but you should probably at least be aware of potential copyright claims... any maybe you have, since it appears to have been removed or Photoshopped out of your promo image.

Sufficiently kickass.
I was wondering, is there such a thing as a crowdfunding site for particularly smaller-scale short film projects? I am aware of Stage 32 and JuntoBox and so on and so forth, but those sites/communities tend to work much like Kickstarter, in that the projects' target budgets are usually at least $500 and up. The short I am currently working on is a production that, even when factoring in having extra in case of emergencies, only needs a maximum of, like, $150 more before the target budget is fully realized. I realize that's a minuscule amount of money to ask the Internet for help with to most folks, and seems like a tiny budget, but the actual case is that everyone involved in the project has already put in every bit that they can afford, and now we're at this weird spot with the budget where we're nearly nothing away from having it funded, but can't start shooting until we get over this last hump and can rent all the equipment and secure some more music.

I cannot even wrap my mind around what it must be like trying to gather investors to fund larger independent films that do find themselves with Kickstarter campaigns of $10k+.It's been an uphill struggle, tooth and nail just to get as far as we've gotten at this point, and when all is said and done, it's probably the easiest one I'll ever have to find funding for. The whole miserable process is simply draining, but I love it.

As for the short itself, I can elaborate more if anyone here is actually interested i hearing about it or potentially helping out, but really this post is more concerned with the best way to go about getting this small sum needed to finish the budget. Even if it were practical to use a Kickstarter-esque site to crowd-source the funding, making sure people get incentive rewards for donating would probably run the needed budget up an unnecessary extra sum, as well.

On every project I've worked on where we've ended up only needing a relatively small amount of money like that, me or another crew member has ended up asking our immediate relatives for a loan for a while. My parents for instance usually were pretty cool about things like that as long as they got paid back in a reasonable time. But you may have already exhausted this, or just don't have that option available.

Even if you did something on KS or IGG or what not with that amount, you could still post it around asking for the money, just explain the situation in your pitch there like you did here. Maybe even make a funny pitch video using the weird situation you're in as material for it.

Finally, we've released our first trailer for THE WOUNDED!

We pushed our 1 minute trailer out for the Cinecoup contest, where we have a chance of winning $1m to shoot our film and a guaranteed theatrical release here in Canada.

"This modern dramatic thriller is about an Afghan father who comes to North America seeking revenge on the soldier who accidentally killed his child. But will revenge satisfy his hunger for justice? Can the soldier turn off the kill switch inside him in order to save himself and ultimately his family?"

If you like the trailer, please do sign up (its quick!), rate our video, follow us, and share!. Being the sole producer at this time I really don't have a great social media impact at this time, so I will take any help I can get.

Thanks, we barely pulled it off, that was literally the only properly timed footage out of 3 takes we had. Hard to get the camera pointing perfectly down at 0 degrees, so you'd find as you rotated it would barrel roll slightly. :P

Hey guys, a few friends of mine have recently begun a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for a horror thriller feature film. The filming finished back in 2014, but the money is needed to complete post-production. Among the perks for supporting the campaign is the ability to suggest the title for the movie when it is released!

Even if you don't feel like reading through the Indiegogo page, check out the teaser trailer here.

Any support from you horror fans out there would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys, I'm loving a lot of what I'm seeing in this thread and thought I'd weigh in with my project. I hope you guys like it. It's a show about the seven deadly sins as gamers, and the first 'season' of seven episodes has been filmed and I'm doing the entire post production process alone since I can't pay anyone to help out with that. I get out about one episode a month and I'm hoping to get the second 'season' I'm writing filmed before too long. I just released the third episode but I'm going to link you guys to the first episode of the series so you can watch it in order.

Another goon (grnegsnspm) and I have been running a fairly successful RPG review show for a few years called System Mastery, in which we focus on comically dissecting bad, dead roleplaying games. Occasionally we'd throw a movie review in there for fun, and those eventually got enough traction that we launched a companion show called Movie Mastery. The conceit of the show is that we take listener suggestions, add them to a big list, and then roll randomly for what movie we'll watch from the list, on the day of recording.

So far we've covered The Day After, Yor the Hunter from the Future, Big Money Rustlas, Wizards, Zardoz, Dead Heat, and a few others, and our to-do list is full of absolute tripe. It comes out every other Thursday, with special episodes that drop around the holidays for weird holiday-theme movies, and has something around eight hundred listeners. You can find either show on itunes and stitcher, and both RSS feeds are on the homepage of the website.

I make long, dumb video criticisms of movies and television shows.

I was getting a little sick of the typical, quantitative, "should-you-watch-this-or-not" reviews you see all over the internet, and wanted to offer a more qualitative analysis based in critical theory. Movies and television shows are texts and pieces of culture, after all, so we can do a lot more in the way of figuring out what they mean.

Hello!

I'm part of a senior thesis group for a film called All That Glitters. I'm part of the sound team and I figured I'd post our indiegogo page here. We are looking for donations to help us get through post production. The project is about a young man in the 1970s whose a big fan of a rock star named James Abbey (think David Bowie). The film is about his learning to accept himself and explore his androgyny, while dealing with his very traditional father.

It was a cool project to work on, we had some big concert scenes that came out great, now we just need some extra cash to get us through pick ups and post. We have a trailer on the page if you want to see more on the story.

Hope you all like it!
